I just started this robotics club and was wondering if there was any team that could give me some information about the arm systems like any pictures, how you built it and etc. If you could tell me a procedure on how you built it would be mostly appreciated.
hi! need a bit of information to help me get into my schools robotics team. Wondering if someone could send me some info on how the robot moves (eg. how arm of robot is controlled)ā¦if someone could do that it will be great!
uhhā¦ it matters on the robot you are talking about.
well the drive system( how the robot moves ex)wheels. treads.))are normally with motors. mostly the drills, chips, fp motors.
the arm(s)ā¦ well, thereās endless ways of makeing an arm move. motor driven and pneumatic cylinders seem to be the most popular. of course, springs, gravity, and many other forces can be used too. and how they are controlled?
motors would normally be controlled to speed controllers aka victors.
if you need know about robots to join the robot team, i feel bad for you.
I always thought FIRST was about anyone being able to learn and get inspired to pursue a career in technologyā¦ Arenāt these teams here to teach all students about robotics and engineering, not just the ones who already know about it? That bugs me.
oh no! dont worry, we dont HAVE to know anything bout robots, but since we have like 100 people who want to join, and only like 40 can make the team, i feel that knowing a BIt of information wont hurt!
looks like there had been another thread started by another member of the same teamā¦ please search before you postā¦
here is a basic constuction processā¦ to tell you the truth, look around to stuff that we use everydayā¦ there is a website about how stuff worksā¦ (www.howstuffworks.com)ā¦ check it outā¦ most of the time you learn more when you search and fine a lot more interesting thingsā¦ good luck
well, our robot arm had all its weight on a 1" aluminium bar, so if the bar would break, the arm would come completly off. That was our first time in robotics compitition, so we didnt exactly plan everything out that wellā¦so i thought we could get some ideas of what a better version of an arm would look likeā¦
how do you know that you would exactly need an arm as a mechanism for 2005 FIRST seasonā¦ it always depends on the gameā¦ or atleast i think it doesā¦ there was another thread started by your own team member about the same topicā¦ i have posted some basic information. please check those outā¦ i hope that helps you outā¦
Except this thread was started before the other one.
Arefin gave you good links to get a general idea of constuction.
You will also find photos and discussions on these forums on robots including thier āarmsā. Now just remember that each team designs thier robots differently so youāll see a lot of different designs and ideas. Also the game changes year to year so one idea/design you see may not work or even be needed the coming year. Designs will also depend on the motors in the KOP and any additional parts they allow including pneumatics.
i was wondering if ne one has the paper that is about HOT team (Team 67)'s PDI Controller of their arm!!! the one w/ the mini-robot dat controls the actual HOTBOT on the fieldā¦?
I would suggest, get in touch with one of the mentors from Team HOT. they are great. i am sure they would be more than happy to help you out with thatā¦
