need help with driverstation

This year, my team is scratching the classmate, and got a netbook of our own. Everything is working great for now, except that we cant fit both the dashboard and driverstation on the netbook’s screen. I believe the same problem occurs on the classmate, but the “driver” account on the classmate removes the window borders and toolbars so that both applications can fit into the screen.

I have tried googling to no success (maybe im googling the wrong thing?), and I cant increase the screen resolution on the netbook anymore (1024 x 600). I think there is probably a command prompt line I could enter into the DS shortcut that would remove the border and toolbars, but I have no clue what it is, or how to find it.

So my question is, does anyone know how I can replicate the “driver” account on the classmate so that I can remove the borders and toolbars from both applications?

Just create a new user called Driver. The driver station and dashboard software look for that user name and remove the borders automatically.

Thank you SO MUCH!! I spent an hour searching up how to hide window borders, but never thought of making a new driver account. Repped.

If you really want to get fancy and have the driver account bring you to the driver station instead of the desktop (like I did with my laptop) just do the following:

NOTE: This must be done on the Driver Account so it only affects it. Make sure you have a separate Administrative Account so you can still makes changes to the computer.

WARNING: I take no responsibility for any damage you do to your computer by modifying the registry. This is entirely your own choice.

  1. Go to the start menu
  2. Go to Accessories > Run
  3. Type in regedit and click OK.
  4. Once the Registry Editor is open navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Winlogon
  5. Create a new String Value (Right Click > New > String Value) called Shell and set its value to the location of the driver station on your hard drive. (Should be “C:\Program Files\FRC Driver Station\Driver Station.exe”)
  6. Log off and back on to the driver account and the computer should enter the Driver Station automatically.

Alternatively you can use the following files I wrote (on the Driver Account) to add or remove the modification (assuming your Driver Station is installed to the default location and the computer is not a 64-bit system):
Add Modification: modify.reg
Remove Modification: heal.reg

Notice: To access the desktop on a modified account for any reason just get to the task manager with ctrl-alt-delete, go to processes, file, new task, and type in explorer.exe.

I wish to use my notebook instead of the classmate. I couldn’t find any file with instructions to do so.
I just installed LabVIEW here, and I don’t have these folders “FRC Driver Station” and “FRC Dashboard” at my ‘program files’
After installing LabVIEW, what else should I do in order to replace the classmate?

Thanks
