What: NEMO is celebrating its 11th anniversary this year! NEMO, as a community of practice, now has almost 900 registered members. This will be an opportunity to meet and greet your fellow Non-Engineering Mentors (NEMs). We will hear from NEMO members in different parts of the country who have hosted NEMO meetings - and suggestions from them on what works. This meeting will also be an informal opportunity to hear about resources and best practices.
When: Friday April 25, 2014 from 10a-12. You are welcome to drop in as your schedule permits.
Who: This meeting is open to all current members of NEMO and any mentors who would like to join.
About NEMO: Non-Engineering Mentor Organization is a support group and information exchange for those adult mentors who help teams as part of the FIRST programs, including Jr.FLL, FLL, FTC and FRC. NEMO has a central clearinghouse for information that will benefit all teams. NEMs help with all the behind-the-scenes glue that hold the teams together including mentor recruitment and retention, travel, hotels, meals, parent involvement, fundraising, business plans, public relations, community service, team building and FIRST logistics.
I hope to see lots of you there in St. Louis next week. Please help us spread the word; Jenny and I would love to fill the room with fellow mentors! We want to hear from you on how we can improve NEMO and on topics that are of interest/concern to you as mentors in the field. Join us!
Hi, our team is looking into joining NEMO. Will these talks be recorded and posted on the web at some point after championships? I’d love to be able to share this amongst our parent group.
This meeting, like most of the NEMO meetings, will have people coming and going, and discussion will be driven by topics brought up and the people attending. This discussion will not be recorded.
Feel free to encourage your parent group to explore the website and join NEMO.
