NEMO Meeting At 2012 Lone Star Regional

Hi all!

Plans are being made for a NEMO meeting at the Lone Star Regional. Please pass the word to the NEMS on your teams. NEMS = non-engineering mentors or parents on the team who serve in that role. If you aren’t sure what that means, plan on coming to the meeting to find out. If you are a technical mentor who juggles the non-engineering mentor duties, come to the meeting and learn how to juggle better.

Lucia Sevcik, our Lone Star Regional Director, is on board with this and has graciously offered us a meeting room. I’m planning on having the meeting sometime Thursday afternoon and will post finalized times and plans when I/we have them worked out.

I had not planned on traveling to Lone Star and am having to get creative with making this happen. If any NEMS would like to help me with facilitating this meeting, it would be totally AWEsome and I would be appreciative. (I usually show appreciation with delicious chocolate bars that I bring with me from Callahans. )

I am so excited and thrilled that interest has been generated and that Lucia is helping to make it happen! Yeehaw! This is a great time to meet, greet, exchange ideas, and have some fun.

Be back soon. Feel free to post questions and suggestions. The only thing that will NOT change will be the day, unless someone steps up to help facilitate and can conduct the meeting on another day. One thing to remember - there is no really good time to have meetings - it is up to us to commit to making them happen and to participating. This helps grow and strengthen community.

P.S. I looked but don’t think I saw a 2012 Lone Star thread… We need one, people! If there is one, please post the link in this thread.

Update: We have a NEMO meeting scheduled for Lone Star Regional. Our Regional Director, Lucia Sevcik, is planning on sending out an e-mail with the information. Right now, it is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2012. It is scheduled for 1.5 hours but can be a come-and-go as you work with your team demands. I have also been in communication with one of our Texas FIRST Senior Mentors, Mike Henry. Mike is planning on attending the meeting and we’ll set aside some time for any questions that he can answer to help with our understanding of FIRST and our community. (Special thank you to Kathie Kentfield for bringing Mike on board.)

I don’t have the room number yet but will provide that as soon as I know. I’m sure all of the info will be in Lucia’s e-mail so watch for that. If anything changes, I’ll be sure to update here.
