Our mentor is thinking of getting some of the neo motors. What do the neos connect to that connect to the wheels/drivetrain? Is there a gearbox for it?
It has the same mounting and output shaft geometry as a CIM. Anything that works with a CIM also works with a NEO.

If you need to press-fit pinions to NEO motor shafts, there is a correct procedure. Check the REV website.

You will also need to get a SparkMAX motor drive for each NEO motor.
If you can mount the motor and controller close enough to each other, you will not need to extend the encoder cable. The wires from the NEO come out of side of the case - you may need to pay attention to how you mount the motors on your gearboxes to assure that the wires reach!
