New Auto Contact Rules

This year is a year where teams may interact in auto. The center portion of the field is open to either alliance picking up and scoring those notes. The rules have been relaxed for auto contact to only apply if you are completely crossed over the center line.

Do you think teams are going to risk getting these notes despite potentially being hit by other teams or having their note stolen?

What do you think teams are going to implement to improve their chances of getting one of these notes?

Not true, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2016 all had auto rules that either allowed for direct contact, or had race aspects to get to game pieces first.

100%

Scouting to see if someone has an auto that does it, vision tracking to see if the note is still there if not going for another, going for those notes first as opposed to going for the closer notes in auto.

Not only that, but I’d expect to see some G417 violations happening as well. It would seem to be very easy for your NOTE collector to slide up over an opponent’s BUMPER and hit something inside their FRAME PERIMETER. And/or damage to the two collectors as they both go for the same NOTE and collide.

I would definitely say that is possible, however I think, given the new auto stop, if a team realizes they have no chance of getting the note they can just auto stop and prevent any violations.
