Welcome Harmony High School (Harmony FL) into existence. This school just built east of St. Cloud, Florida is the school I will be attending next year. I will no longer be a part of St. Cloud High School, or 1390. However, I already have it approved by the principal to get a new team started here, so I hope to be a big part of the first team from the first year the school is started. I also still plan to help 1390 when I am able to.
Everyone keeps asking me where in the world Harmony Florida is, so I went to the Osceola County website, found Harmony High school, clicked on the Get Directions, and this is what popped up. Apparently, Harmony High school is going to be an underwater school at the bottom of Coon Lake. I’m not sure how well we can build a robot there, but watch for a robot that will be watertight and possibly a hovercraft. I am Sure the school will have an excellent Swim team.
The team does not have a number yet, and is not officially registered, But more is to come soon. Wish me and my new team luck in a new rookie season!
I want to wish you luck. Starting a new team from scratch can be hard but I hope it works out. It’s also very good that you’ve got support from the principal and hopefully he/she can encourage (along with you) some of the students and teachers to join.
Oh, and don’t forget, when they’re building this school kindly remind them that your future team would like a robotics room and possibly another room big enough for a mock field to practice on.
I am so glad to hear this. I met with an administrator from this school at the Florida regional this year. If you guys need any help from us Orlando team, please let us know. Don’t forget about the Robot Rodeo. I am sure we can get you a robot to play with.
Just to keep everyone from getting too confused, These maps aren’t right even by a long shot. The school isn’t even on the same road. I zoomed out the map and put where Harmony actually is (apparently Harmony doesn’t exist as a town yet to Mapquest or Yahoo, either). I also put a couple nearby teams on the map, and some that are close but just out of range. Talk about a town out in the middle of no where, There isn’t even a restaurant or any companies there yet. I can see I have some work cut out for me, but it is a very worthwhile task. the school will offer construction and engineering, and eventually engineering1, 2, and 3 with construction as the perquisite. I can see a team become very good here someday, and am happy to be a part of it from the beginning, even if that means I don’t have the advantages that a veteran team might have. We also hope to get the engineering teacher involved (along with the lovely room and tools he has ). I have high hopes for a great rookie year, and am happy I have so many wonderful friends on other team willing to help me how they can, a great advantage most rookie teams don’t have. I’ll try to get the new recruits on Chief Delphi to meet other people on other teams. What a wonderful resource this website is for exchange of information and meeting new people, something a no team should be without.
I would love to hear about other teams’ experience from their first year, and would be grateful for any information anyone is willing to provide to what makes for an All-Star-like team. Just post, PM, IM, or e-mail me!
just remember that you have a lot of teams in the area that can help…don’t be afraid to ask, and I will PM you some first year info you might like/need…
Alright, new question. Assuming I get this team off the ground, make it official, and get a team number, is it possible to change my username without starting a new account? should I change it from bonzack1390 to bonzack1### (new number) or just bonzack, or even at all? should my location be where the team is (Harmony) or where my house is (St. Cloud)? Am I getting off topic?
To change user names all you have to do is PM Brandon Martus. When you decide your new user name just PM him with it and he will change it. It’s against forum rules to create two or more accounts. As for location I don’t think it’s a big deal but I believe most people put thier team’s location. It’s up to you and no one will hold it against you.
It’s official, we exist!!! Today marks the day that Harmony High got its team number and voted on a team name. We are now Team 1604 and signed up for the Peachtree Regional (subject to change). One of the greatest challenges for our team faced this year, as individuals and as an upstarting team, were the hurricane that plagued Our beloved state. I am happy to say every one of us and our community is bouncing back from these distastes, and have decided to call ourselves The Harmony Hurricanes in memory of this year from our ability to overcome challenges. Lastly, I checked today on how we are doing funds wise, and our very gracious administration is backing us, and allocating the funds for our venture, despite damages to the school from the hurricanes.
So far this year, we have only had 3 meetings, but have a Name, a Number, an Identity, and have competed in the Robot Rodeo. Not a bad start, now lets hope for a great build season.

Barry - Great to hear and see you are of the ground. Even though you are an OU fan I won’t hold that against you or your team (BEDLAM MATTERS & and it is tomorrow) Holler with anything you need and we will try to do what we can do.
Ken
Congrats Barry, this is like so awesome.
Hey, if you ever need help with programming or anything else, Tatsu is right here dude, just ask. Our team did good in our rookie year, our trick was to keep it simple, so, as an advice, keep it as simple as you can (also reliable, dont forget that, hehehe, even though it will be hard to build a robot underwater :yikes: , hehehe). We also had our budget really tight this year, but we only spent like 500 dollars over the standard fee , but that was because it was our second year, and we already had tools bought and stuff, and our team it’s like tiny  . So just relax, you have enough spirit to take your team real far.
PS: Am still waiting for the pic with the drill in my nose , hehehe.
