NEW PSP SCOUTING

We have developed a way to use our psps as a scouting system, for taking info  and will be using them at the Lone Star regional. This system that we are using will be able to wireless transfer our data files to our main psp. Eat that Nintendo DS.

Great! Pictures? Info? Any sneak previews?

The reason I enjoy the DS as a scouting platform is it offers the same flexibility (and more, possibly) for a lower price. The plus about this is that in our team practically ***everyone ***has a DS, so there’s no worrying about money issues or paying extensive amounts on PSPs. They’re more durable, have 2 screens (one of which is a touch screen, which greatly increases your options), just as many buttons, and can also transmit data wirelessly (although I’m still working that out, I don’t get much time to work on it nowadays… )

I’m not saying a PSP scouting system is bad at all. But for sure, bring on the previews!

What kind of previews do you mean. As for the PSP’s, our situation is the reverse of your DS’s, most of us have one.

By previews I mean pictures or explanations on how the system itself works. Is it one on one scouting for each robot on the field? Is the data more on the quantitative side or the qualitative? (pure data from matches or data in several categories such as robustness and reliability?)

By the way, what environment or library are you using for the program? Is it, perhaps, devkitpro?

Thanks for any answers, I really would like to know more about this.

We are using a normal Excel spreadsheet, it is based on more qualitative data put into quantities. I believe the members who set it up said you can put any excel sheet on the psp. You will have to wait till Angel gets on. I am also in the thinking that we are using number “codes” to activate macros. We will have one per 1.2 robots.

we basicly put an excel sheet on the psps, and put a program called ir shell to send the information to a reciever psp that is connected to a computer to save the information. But to do this you have to have a moded psp 4 this.
we did not make any of these programs and take no credit for them!!!

Overall, I think that all of these methods are great. I myself have been working on a DS Scouting system that will be all wirelessly, including the downloading to the DS.

What we are going to do is send the information to a server and let MySQL do the rest. Another one of my ideas was based off of what the original DS Scouting system was, where you input a text file into Excel.

But, what I would love to see, is a system that could be used by cell phones, PSP’s, and DS’s. All in one. This way, anyone who has a cell phone, DS, or PSP, could all scout and not have to buy anything special.
But, that would be a decent summer project.

I would love to see what the PSP stuff looks lilke. It seems interesting.

What program do you use to read the excel spreadsheet on the PSP?

our data is qualitative, quantitative, and we will not release the name of the program we use to run the spread sheet, but we are willing to help the teams at our regional use the psps if they have there own to use as a scouting systeml.
