Anyways, go check it out and tell me what you think.

Jason,

It looks like a lot of thought and work went into your site. I like it. I have put it on my bookmark list.

How many are on your e-mail list? How much traffic will I get if I sign up?

I have an idea. I have often thought that it would be nice to have a place for FIRST folks to establish e-mail groups sort of at will. For example, I might want to form an e-mail group on Team Leader Burnout (not really  It would be cool if I could form the group and that the group formation would automatically broadcast to the general message group. The e-mail would have links of course that would allow them to easily subscribe to the sub-group’s messages.

I don’t know if it would get used or even exactly how it would be used, but I can imagine that it would be pretty useful.

Are you game for sinking another 100-500 hours into your site?

It’s all for the cause.

Just a thought.

eGroups.com offers email groups (listserves) to anyone.
You can create one in minutes, and configure it the way you want.

Features:
Calendar, links, activity log, message archive, files (FTP)…etc. It’s free, but you’ve gotta put up with
advertising messages in the first posting. Replies have no advertising. Its well run and quite useful.

Members can unsubscribe or suspend their mail at any time. www.egroups.com

Dr. Joe,

I can actually do that pretty easily, if people want to do it. Just drop me an e-mail some time about whatever kind of list you want to create, and I’ll make it. An announcement would be sent to the general mailing list, and the announcement would contain the link. As far as the amount of traffic you’ll get from signing up for the general mailing list, it will be quite minimal, until january comes around that is, then you’ll get more messages than normal, like whenever a new team update is put out, or if FIRST makes any other announcement. Also, I would imagine that these other e-mail lists would probably pop up more during that time as well.

Thanks for the support

Hey Jason,

Love the site…great job! The only thing that’s a bit rough for me is the frames setup (cause I’m already losing pat of my screen to one of thoes ‘free internet’ banners). Other than that, looks nice and I plan to link there from both my FIRST-a-holics Anonymous page and the Robot Chicks Union page. =)

Ok, so now that I got the site up, I do need to ask everyone out there a favor. If you have gone to the site, you might now know that one of the goals of this site is to get a good history of FIRST through pictures. I think it will be very cool to be able to sit and really look at the evolution of the robotis in this competition over the years, especially for those of us who have not been in the competition for as long a time as some of you. So, what I am asking, if for anyone out there who has pictures of your team’s robots from past years, going all the way back to the very first year. I don’t really need any pictures from the year 2000 comp, I basically have them all, but for all the other years, I NEED YOUR HELP. So, please e-mail me any pics that you have, lets make this site a collaborative effort of the entire online FIRST community.

Thanks a lot,

Jason
