New "Spikey" Tread Rev Robotics

Has anyone used the new spikey tread from Rev Robotics? The MaxSwerve wheels. We’re looking for a new tread this year. We use the MaxSwerve modules and our metal wheels were nicked up last year. We think the tread was not thick enough to keep that from happening. Or any suggestions to thicker tread.

We just released the Spiky tread this week, so I don’t think anyone is going to have outside opinions on it yet.

What I can say is that these wheels provide “crazy traction” but that is at the expense of needing to change the tread more frequently than the molded wheels. We are working on more documentation to give some examples of acceleration differences between the wheel types, but if you used metal wheels with rough top last year, not having to cut or drill your own strips ever again would be worth it to me.

Awesome great to hear! Does the tread allow for the wheel to be more off the ground. We are looking for something that’s a little thicker. We bought tread last year and put it on our wheels. It just seemed like the metal was driving the robot and the tread was making a little bit of traction happen. If that makes sense.

(the tread is very worn in one of the pics, this was just before we changed them out)

The spiky tread actually extends over the metal side shields on the wheels, both to give the widest traction area possible, but also to avoid issues like what you posted where the metal could contact the ground.
