Okay, I’m completely inexperienced with LabVIEW, and I just found out yesterday that I have to use it for programming rather than what I originally thought I could use.
When you are programming in LabVIEW, do you have to create separate programs for the robot and send them as is, or do they have to be combined, or what? Sorry if this sounds somewhat dumb, but like I said, I’m completely new to this programming… program.
Wow, you have quite a challenge ahead of you for the next three and a half days.
I’m told the LVMastery TipJar series of videos is a good introduction to programming a robot using LabVIEW. (I have never been able to see them, so I don’t have a link handy; with luck, someone else will point you to them.)
Why must you use LabVIEW instead of C/C++ in the WindRiver environment?
For some reason I can’t get Wind River running on the laptop we have for programming, so I have to go with LabVIEW. I think I saw the link while I was browsing the site earlier. I’ll take another look at it.
You will find the Tip Jar series excellent. Besides being a professional at Labview training, Mr. Zimmer is a mentor on an FRC team. I think that these videos are the fastest way to get up to speed.
Tip Jar #5 through Tip Jar #16 are FRC specific. However, I feel that #5 through #8 will give you the bare minimum knowledge to get a robot running in Labview. You can start here and then navigate to the others on the left menu on the web page.
