New York Tech Valley Robot Rumble 2017

That poor team…I wonder if they brought any lard with them?

Reading further, I wonder if they’re there because this worked out for them:

All memery aside, I can’t help but feel a little bad for 6621 too. Reader, please remember two things:

  1. Team 6621 is Artemis Robotics Team (ART) from Chatham, NY, not the Piztons from Moose Creek, AK.
  2. Transparency is STILL the sign of BAD LARD!

Okay, that’s enough thread derailment for today.

The Tech Valley High School Dragons, team 5881 would like to thank our alliance captain Shaker Robotics, team 2791, and our alliance partner Warriors of East Harlem, team 1880, for an amazing win.

As always, the Tech Valley events, both the Robot Rumble and the Regional, are comprised of great teams, great matches, and great people.

Special thanks to our hosts, 0xBE4, our FTA Mark who drove up from Hauppauge, and all the great volunteers who stayed well past what the schedule said.

See you all in March!

[Edit] Matches and awards are now posted on TBA: https://www.thebluealliance.com/event/2017nytv [/edit]

Thank you to 3044 and all the wonderful volunteers who make Robot Rumble a great event. It’s so nice to have such a well-run event such a short drive away.

Thank you to 5881 and 1880 for really bringing it in playoffs. 5881, with their super reliable center gear auto, was the perfect complement for us as we finally got our hopper auto, the product of many hours of toil, working. I remember that when our rep pulled 1880 out of the hat, our entire team was cheering. We all knew that we were very lucky to be able to play with 1880 again and I’m glad we could take home the win this time.

I can’t wait to see everyone again at RPI Kickoff and the Tech Valley Regional.

Quick update as I did get asked about our match videos.

Looks like we have videos for most of the matches, but toward the end of the day the camera battery went dead and was slow to charge.

What videos we do have are currently preprocessing and I have a request out to the @NYTVFRC twitter account for permission to use the score screenshots they took. If I hear back today, hopefully we’ll start posting match videos tomorrow.

On behalf of 0xBE4, thank you to all of the volunteers that worked tirelessly over the long hours of Friday and Saturday to help make this event so amazing!

Special thanks to our alliance partner, 5254 (x2!), we had a great time playing with you again. Thank you to all the teams that attended, we wish you the best of luck in the 2018 season and hope to see you again next year!

I’ve just finished posting the [strike]first batch of[/strike] videos from the event. You’ll find them on TBA [strike]later tonight[/strike] after the TBA cache expires. [strike]The balance of the videos will be up tomorrow as they’re still uploading to YouTube.[/strike]

A few things. First, apparently “card full” means just stop recording, and don’t tell anyone about it for 2-3 matches. “Full Field Video” and “don’t move the camera” were apparently not effectively communicated to the students running the camera. My apologies for the excessive zoom in one of the videos. Also, when the battery is running low, there’s no reason to bring it to the pit to charge over lunch.

All in all we have videos for 18 matches. One starts a few seconds in, one ends a few seconds short (battery died). Of course, no video for f1m3. (/smh) Given the condition of the source video I only did a rather hard edit.

Thanks to Nancy Casler and @NYTVFRC for permission to use their pictures of the final scores.

Thank you and 5881 for all your hard work with archiving the event. I took video on my phone for finals 2 and 3. It’s not the best quality but I’m uploading them now and I’ll submit them to TBA.

EDIT: Videos are uploaded and submitted to TBA. Sorry for the mediocre angle and Shaker-centeredness during auto. I didn’t expect to share these videos with the world.

Thanks Brian, I’ve approved them and as soon as the cache clears they’ll pop in.

I think QF4-1 and QF4-2 are actually the original and replay of QF4-1? Not sure.

So I have qf4-1, 4-2 and the replay all in the source. The 4-2 that’s posted is the replay.
