NFL Pick 'em: Wild Card

Now we kick into Wild Card gear! Only now we will add seeds. Keep in mind that the NFL does not play a pure-bracket playoff. The highest seeded bye team is always assured of playing the lowest-seeded team remaining. Seeds will be in parentheses if you don’t already know.

Here it goes:

Saturday:
Kansas City (6) at Indiannapolis (3)
Dallas (5) at Seattle (4)

Sunday:
NY Jets (5) at New England (4)
NY Giants (6) at Philadelphia (3)

You can bold your picks just like you guys have been doing. Write down (for this week only) the matchup for the following week, but do NOT pick for the matchups you write down.

Rules:

AFC:
San Diego (1) plays the lowest-seeded winner from the Wild Card round
Baltimore (2) plays the highest-seeded winner from the Wild Card round

NFC:
Chicago (1) plays the lowest-seeded winner from the Wild Card round
New Orleans (2) plays the highest-seeded winner from the Wild Card round.

As always, state your comments about the games and why you think the games you picked are going to go that way.

Saturday
Kansas City at Indianapolis
Yeah, Yeah. Larry Johnson is gonna run for a ton of yards on the Colts. Whatever. Manning is gonna do whatever it takes to win this one.

Dallas at Seattle
The Cowboys have been stinking up the joint for the past month so bad Seattle could smell them comming from a month away. Don’t worry Dallas fans your 60 minutes from ever seeing TO in a Cowboys uniform ever again!

Sunday
N.Y. Jets at New England
The Jets are a nice story but I witnessed firsthand my Bills anilihate them at home during their drive for the playoffs and then watch the national media give them a free pass that they wouldn’t even consider giving to the Giants. THis team has some warts and New England is going to expose them and and are out to make an example out of them after the last game they played.

N.Y. Giants at Philadelphia
Congrats on making the party New York. Now leave before we call security on you!

I agree vengeance will come on swift wings for the Jets. The Pats are healthy and ready to roll. Hoping to see Brady throw some nice long passes.

I don’t quite agree…

Saturday:
**Kansas City ** at Indiannapolis
This will be a battle of offense obviously. Indy has players but so does KC. I believe even though it will be close, Indy will mess up in the end.

Dallas at Seattle
Dallas, true, has not done very well lately but neither has the hawks. Romo, TO and the Cowboys will redeem themselves with an easy win.

Sunday:
**NY Jets **at New England
I can’t believe I’m picking them but I have to. This will be another close game. If Jets can play good pass defense and shut down Brady’s arm, they can win even with their horrible run defense.

NY Giants at Philadelphia
Sorry, not much to say but Philly has it where it counts. All they need is for their front line to keep the QB protected, use the run and playfake to put away an easy win.

I like home teams.

Saturday:
Kansas City (6) at Indiannapolis (3)
As everyone knows, Larry Johnson vs. the Colts D will be a massacre, But Peyton and Co. will be able to overcome the weaknesses of Indy’s under-sized defense.

Dallas (5) at Seattle (4)
Momentum is the difference here. Romo’s star is fading fast and T.O. is unhappy and disruptive again.

Sunday:
NY Jets (5) at New England (4)
Yes, the Jets won in Foxboro a couple of weeks ago. However, Belichick saves his best gameplans for the post-season.

NY Giants (6) at Philadelphia (3)
Another game decided by momentum. The Giants and Tiki rolled over the 'Skins, but the Giants have to many internal issues, which will hinder their focus and determination. Also, Eli has been a disappointment and I don’t expect him to rebound now.

AFC:
New England @ San Diego
Indianapolis @ Baltimore

NFC:
Seattle @ Chicago
Philadelphia @ New Orleans

Saturday:
Kansas City (6) at Indiannapolis(3)
I am goign to have to go with Peyton not being able to overcome the running of LJ. And just like for many ages before, Peyton will not come away with a playoff win.

Dallas (5) at Seattle (4)
I will have to agree with this one, TO is useless and he is angry and what he has the ost drops this season? wow… i am surprised.

Sunday:
NY Jets (5) at New England (4)
Brady will not lose this one.

NY Giants (6) at Philadelphia (3)
I am not much of a fan for the G-Men and i say they will not e able to do much and Garcia is looking hot!

AFC:
New England @ San Diego
Indianapolis @ Baltimore

NFC:
Seattle @ Chicago
Philadelphia @ New Orleans

Saturday:
Kansas City (6) at Indianapolis (3)
In recent history, it was Indy’s mental health keeping them out of he Super Bowl; this year, it’s their physical health. Unfortunately, Indy won’t go farther than 2 postseason games this year.
Dallas (5) at Seattle (4)
The 'Boys are looking confused.

Sunday:
NY Jets (5) at New England (4)
Why? Because why the heck not.
NY Giants (6) at Philadelphia (3)
People tend to forget that Jeff Garcia is a Pro Bowl athlete. Tiki, we’ll miss you, best of luck as a full-time father.

SDC vs. NYJ
Old Colts vs. New Colts

Bears vs. Seahawks
Saints vs. Eagles

Saturday:
KANSAS CITY (6) at Indianapolis (3)
Lately, Kansas City has been clickin, and well the Colts defense has not.
Dallas (5) at SEATTLE (4)
This all depends on if Dallas gets out to an early lead or not. If Dallas gets out to a huge lead early, then sean alexander could possibly be reduced to a pass blocker. But I don’t think Mike Holmgrin will let that happen. I say look for Alexander to play huge. He is back and looking better than ever. Look for the Seahawks to pick on Dallas’ (lately) horrible secondary.

Sunday:
NY JETS (5) at New England (4)
This is the year for the early exit for the Pats. The Jets are the underdogs just how they like it. I think they will harrass Tom Brady all day and Chad Pennington is going to let it fly.
NY GIANTS (6) at Philadelphia (3)
I know that Philly is on a role and Jeff Garcia is playing amazing, but the Giants are looking to finally throw off the stench that all the controversy has caused. I think Tiki will have a huge game just to play one more. He doens’t want to go home early becuase of internal conflicts.

Saturday:
Kansas City (6) at Indiannapolis (3) i think that LJ will run all over the horrible indy run defence
Dallas (5) at **Seattle (4) **dallas is still shocked about the lions game

Sunday:
NY Jets (5) at New England (4) they are good this year
NY Giants (6) at Philadelphia (3) they will bounce back

Rules:

Saturday:
Kansas City (6) at Indianapolis (3)
Dallas (5) at Seattle (4)

Sunday:
NY Jets (5) at New England (4)
NY Giants (6) at Philadelphia (3)

My picks are those I hope will win.

Saturday:
Kansas City (6) at Indiannapolis (3)
Indy won 9 games in a row with teams running all over them. The KC defense will not know what hit 'em. The Indy “bend but don’t break” defense will be in tact, as hitman Bob Sanders will strike fear into the KC offense. Watch him crash the line and upend LJ a couple of times early in the game, and KC will turn to the passing game. LJ will still get 120-140 yards rushing, but no win for KC… yet again.

Dallas (5) at Seattle (4)
I dislike the Dallas Cowboys.

Sunday:
NY Jets (5) at New England (4)
As a Colts fan, I truly believe that the Patriots are evil.

NY Giants (6) at Philadelphia (3)
Rich Kressly is teaching me to hate Philly. Plus, I like Tiki.

Go Colts!

Kansas City at Indianapolis
I’m sure Manning is tired of his post-season blunders.

Dallas at Seattle
Very close attributes among these teams, but cowboys have the edge with their receivers and running game.

N.Y. Jets at New England
Normally, I might have considered the Jets to win this but let’s be serious, it’s the post season; ergo Brady + B.B. start their magic.

N.Y. Giants at Philadelphia
Although NYG has been screwing up for most of the past few months, I doubt Tiki Barber will let them lose.

Saturday:
Kansas City (6) at **Indianapolis **(3)
Cause Indianapolis is a cool team…
Dallas (5) at Seattle (4)
Cause Dallas has an awesome mascot

Sunday:
These are just the picks that I like. No real reason!
NY Jets (5) at New England (4)
NY Giants (6) at Philadelphia (3)

Kansas City at Indianapolis
LJ ran for 138 and 3 td’s against Jacksonville’s #4 ranked run defense. He should put on a good show this week against indy. The only reason I would want to see indy win is because I would love to eventually see LT Run for 300+ against them, I suppose I’ll just settle for watching LJ

Dallas at Seattle
I know I read some where above that Dallas has the better running game but perhapse you slept through the last few seasons as well as through the Seattle-San Diego game but Seattle has this running back Shaun Alexander, he started slow because of injury but it sure looks like he is back.
And how can you possibly pick Dallas after the last two games.

N.Y. Jets at **New England
**
Belichick doesn’t lose to a team twice in the same season. Patriots are hands down the better team, Pats will look to embarass their division rivals

N.Y. Giants at Philadelphia
Ok so at the beginning of the season I knew that the NFC east was going to be the closest division in the NFL but I didn’t think that all of the teams would dissappoint me. I just can’t pick Eli in this one.

KC @Indy
I have to agree with what seems to be half of the people here, LJ is good, but Peyton has a laser rocket arm.

Dallas @ Seattle
I’m thinking last weeks loss was just to avoid Philly in the Wild Card round…if Romo can keep the ball off the turf they’ll be fine…although I could’ve gone either way.

NY @ NE
Woo the Patriots win yet again…it’s time for the student to become the teacher and send Tom “Pretty Boy” Brady home early.

NY @ Philly
Well in the regular season matchup the road team won each contest…but let’s face it, Philly should’ve won both. People are saying with Tiki playing the way he did they won’t lose…the only problem is he’s had 5 TD’s all season, 3 of which were last week versus the REDSKINS…Philly’s D is a little bit better. And lets not forget last year when the Giants won the division they got blanked in the playoffs…is it that obvious that I’m an Eagles fan?

Saturday:
Kansas City (6) at Indianapolis (3) (although I’m rooting for KC)
Dallas (5) at Seattle (4)

Sunday:
NY Jets (5) at New England (4)
NY Giants (6) at **Philadelphia **(3)

Saturday:
Kansas City (6) at Indiannapolis (3)
Let’s put it this way. Trent Green sucks. Indy’s running defense sucks (last in the league) and so does their passing defense (21st in the league). Luckily KC only has a 16th rated pass defense and an 18th rated rush defense. Neither team sacks a lot (which will not help either one whoever they play when they win, as both the Chargers and Ravens are the top 2 teams in the league in sacks). Kansas City, to win, must be able to keep Peyton Manning from moving the football as well as run. If Ron Dayne can light the colts up, LJ can do the same. But unfortunately for the Chiefs, the Colts are going to step it up as they are yet to be defeated at home. And that 12th man will help the Colts prevail in what should be a shootout between both teams passing and rushing attacks.

Dallas (5) at Seattle (4)
This is going to be a high scoring shooting match. The Romo Empire must resurrect if Big D’s going to be successful on the road. He should be and that will be a big help.

Sunday:
NY Jets (5) at New England (4)
How the hell have these two gotten here?? Tom Brady doesn’t have his core (even though they have Lawrence Maroney and Corey Dillon who have both been pretty strung here) and Rodney Harrison is hurt. He’ll be a game-time decision. The Pats need him. Pennington is too accurate. If Coach of the Year were divided into two leagues, Eric Mangini would be AFC Coach of the Year. Wow! But King Tom [Brady] and the Patriot Empire are too good and peaking too well here. They will prevail.

NY Giants (6) at Philadelphia (3)

Now this is interesting! They played head to head TWICE this year and split the season series, each winning on the other’s home turf. So, the 12th man may or may not be a factor. Jeff Garcia is almost unstoppable and that Philly D will create problems for the Giants D. Tiki Barber will light up as usual, and the pressure turns to Eli. If he falters, the G-Men will fail. The Giants need to do 2 things: (1) Use Tiki! He’s fast, he’s strong, and he’ll bust through that Philly rush D. Plus, he’ll eat up the clock so Jeff Garcia really has to get fast. (2) Stop Garcia and company, which is really hard to do. I think Eli will falter under the pressure here and the Eagles will take this one. There’s really too much they can do and they’ve been playing well at the right time.

So the matchups for next week will look like this:

AFC

New England (4) at San Diego (1)
Indiannapolis (3) at Baltimore (2) (Baltimore Past vs. Baltimore Present)

NFC:

Dallas (5) at Chicago (1)
Philadelphia (3) at New Orleans (2)

I will never have Tony Romo in a fantasy league ever again. Klutz!

RESULTS: All the home teams won! (First time since 2000 that this has happened!)
