No apparent signal sent from PWM 10 [LabVIEW/also slightly electrical]

Hello all,

I have a rather unusual problem with our robot’s control system.

When trying to run code to test our shooter, I noticed that many indicator LEDs on our Victor 888s (which we use exclusively) were blinking. After fiddling with them for a while, I decided it was probably a programming issue, so I hacked together some really ugly code that just opens 10 motors and assigns a value of 0 to each of them.

After some more fiddling with the PWM cables, only one was not going solid. I decided that it could possibly be a problem with the cable, so I swapped it out with a new PWM cable – no dice. I then thought that it might be a bent pin on the digital sidecar which wasn’t conducting, so I swapped the cables in PWM 9 & PWM 10. The Victor who’s indicator was blinking was then solid, and the one that was solid was blinking. It seems to be, therefore, a problem with PWM 10.

Thinking that it might be a problem with the digital sidecar instead, I swapped it out for another (older) sidecar. This time, the light was solid when connected to all but PWM 10. I assume it is rather unlikely that only PWM 10 be U/S on two sidecars.

Does anybody have any advice on what to do here?

Thanks,
Eric Bryce

Try swapping your 37-pin ribbon cable with a new or different one. You might have a bad pin or wire on the cable.

When I first observed the problem we were using a ribbon cable like that which comes in the latest KoPs, I swapped it out for a serial cable like that which came in the older kits of parts to no avail.

EDIT: the digital module seems to be the culprit. It has been swapped-out and now works.
