No Notes

Here we are, about a week in-ish into the season. And all the notes are gone. None until March-ish.

Now I have to ask: With one game piece…why are there not any available? We all know that there these game pieces are somewhat easily damaged…and yet they are out of stock.

I think this is a poor vision for FIRST and I presume AndyMark on supply.

I do appreciate the “simpleness” of having one game piece. Now I have to ask, what are decent replacements that teams can use? Do we need to duck tape any and all Notes that we were able to get? Or is there another solution?

Thanks…I tried to look up Notes on the search…this never came up.

Where are you seeing this?

That was today yesterday, Jared.

Herding cats…With only one game piece…and to pay $20 each for additional ones…These things are scarcer than Falcon motors!

We have the first 2 weeks of comp…waiting til March is pointless…so we are not going to order them. And after reading the links above…the consistency looks problematic. Looks like we have more time to drive…and limit our scoring.

Did you hear this year’s theme song is John Cage’s 4:33 ? Because there are no notes?

Ooooh I made myself sad…

By “coming weeks” you mean “late April”, right?

Can you get those notes from them and how fast will they deliver? We also ordered from Gopher on Saturday night (1/6/24) only to be notified that they are back ordered.

We have ordered from freedomrider.com but didn’t get to choose our shipping. Their response was an email stating that we ordered from them, please await shipping.

We ordered 50 notes from AndyMark but only 24 have shipped. They will send the rest as noted.

Before you ask why we need so many, we (and our Hub) are putting on two scrimmages and wanted enough for the events.

I’m curious, what’s the manufacturing process for these anyhow?

I don’t know for certain, but I suspect it to be similar to this video

This is probably an important thing to discuss. What’s the best way to protect the notes without changing how they interact with your robot too much?

While not compromising the intent of the piece.

We only have 1 single note. We have to hide it from the team because we don’t want to lose it or damage it. We didn’t have all of our team at kickoff due to other commitments or illness…so, we had a semi kickoff on Monday. We make decisions as a team. And with only one game piece…you would think that FIRST and AndyMark would order enough of a one piece game piece.

I would have to ask, Should Statbotics predicts the number of game pieces needed each year?

A minor concern…and still a concern is the cost of the piece. $20. At Gopher a potential 6 pack of 14" “NOTES” is under $100. At AM…$120. I am just doing the math. I get mark ups…

A performance worthy of Victor Borge, George Carlin, and my areas annual human mannequin window displays.

When I was playing the video…my wife thought the screen had frozen!!! LOL
