Note Shooter Discussions

Our team is still undecided on the type of shooter we are aiming for, so we have 3 types we are testing for. (2-Wheel Side Shooter, Top/Bottom Rollers, Hybrid Design nicknamed “Project M”).

I was curious what y’all’s testing had revealed in terms of wheel type, size, durometer, compliance, and if a barrel was helpful in terms of accuracy at all. I’m working on the top-bottom roller, and the biggest problem is the wobble associated with the compliance. When you compress the note, the ends will flare up and ruin any consistency.

My first thought is to use stealth wheels with a really low durometer (probably 35A) so you could have limited compliance but still have adequate velocity transfer from the wheels.

I’ve seen lots of discussion on types of shooters, but I haven’t found much on these kinds of specifics, so I wanted to start an open discussion on what your teams have tested, hypothesized, and what considerations you’ve made in your designs!

We decided early on to use top/bottom roller shooter, and tested a variety of wheels. Colson, compliant, and stealth work quite well, you would just need to adjust compression slightly. Due to convenience of our stock, 2 1/4 in + 3 in compliant is what we are going with. Our prototype with these wheels at 1in compression was resulting in 20ft+ distances and hitting the ceiling tiles out of at 9ft ceiling.

Would need to do more testing to give velocities.

It seems most wheels will work fine, the only ones I wouldn’t recommend are any HIgrip or Smoothgrip wheels. They will tear your notes to shreds.
