NPR Did story on Segway HT on Wednesday

"All things Considered " on National Public Radio did a story on the
Segway Human Transporter yesterday. The POV was of a mail carrier in Atlanta who was using one for a limited period. He liked it a lot, and when asked about any negatives, he couldn’t come up with any.

Now I think the real reason Dean built the Segway was so he could look Joe J. in the eye!

I heard that report also, I thought they did quite well, except that the reporter was fairly clueless…

Dean was at the FIRST VIP reception (and the Governor’s education Conference) Monday in Grand Rapids. Great to have him there although it distracted the local press. On the other hand, the press probably wouldn’t have covered it at all if the Segway wasn’t there.

What impressed me most about the Segway was that it really looks like the pictures on the Segway site, smooth, shiny, elegant. I’d have sworn those pics were rendered or severely touched up photos/concept drawings.

Dean stood on the Segway all evening. Maybe it was to discourage riders, or maybe it was because he likes being taller?

I think that Dean stands on a Segway all the time to show that it becomes second nature. It’s so easy to use that you almost forget its there. You just move. That is the key to Segway that makes it so different from many of the things it is compared to. You don’t have to think about it to ride it.
