Null meaning?

Just wanted to make sure I understand that the “Null” in section 5.1.1 means that the pre-loaded hatch panels don’t count for points at the end, right?

To my understanding, that is correct.

Agreed.

Correct as they have a WHITE outline to be identified as a null hatch

I was wondering to see if everyone else understood this the same as me. If your team decides to use a null hatch, your whole alliance will not lose a normal hatch correct?

Your assumption seems to be correct (at least from my POV, I may be wrong).

Perfect, Thank you

Just looked it up here ya go

What is the outline of the other hatches then?

No white border and game hatches

From what the field videos showed, all hatch panels have the white outline, the null hatches have additional white stripes (see below)

@Eiim I see, thank you

It would be my understanding if you use a Null Hatch, it’s not scored. Therefore, your alliance loses the 2 points it might have gained if the hatch was placed by a robot. However, you will still gain 3 points if you place cargo behind it. Does that sound right?

I agree with you. My question would then be, for what value would anyone choose to take the null panel? Since you are taking away a potential spot for a regular panel which you would get 2 points for

In the game animation, at about 1:30, it looks like there’s a null hatch on the rocket. I don’t see how this can happen given details in 5.1.1 (F).

  • Null hatches are installed on one or both of your team’s designated cargo ship bays.
  • The Null hatches are secured to the cargo ship (i.e. cannot be removed during match play).
  • Nonstaged Null hatches are excluded from match play.

Is this a mistake in the video?

Looks like a mistake to me. I read it the same as you.

The manual trumps the video. Follow whats said in the manual.

Certainly - I was looking to confirm my understanding of the manual and making sure I wasn’t missing some situation in which that actually could happen.

hey @Brandon_Martus can this be disabled? https://i.imgur.com/5XWillc.png I dont see why we shouldnt be able to quote a whole post…

I think it’s because if you click reply for a specific post, it shows up as a reply to anyone who reads it. Clicking on the icon in the top right of that reply shows the original anyway, so there’s no need for the quote.
