Number of laps

Today started the second week of regionals, so i was wondering what lap totals people were getting. I know its relatively early in the competitions, but this is just to get an idea of how we are stacking up. Today, my max was 13 laps, and I’ve been hearing that is the most across the nation so far. Was this just talk or am I that good?. Thanks for your input!

That sounds pretty high. I haven’t seen anyone get close to that.

However, it is practice day so everyones pretty laid back. so when u factor in that win/loss is on the line i think you’ll find it a lot more difficult to get that many. Now if you can, props to you and i can’t wait to see it in action. Good luck this weekend and hope you do well.

Good show!

…BUT! Remember, a driver can’t drive himself around the track. You need a robot to drive, and to make a robot you need a team.

Congratulations Team 1986!

“Did you bring your gracious professionalism today?”

You bring up a good point, and I don’t think that would have been possible without my teammates. I only said “my” because we only have one driver, so the other acts as a coach.

13 is high even for a practice day match, which are longer than a normal match. But I think most teams can do anywhere from 4-8 average. If you are trying to hurdle then your number of laps go down, but most lap bots at St. Louis were getting around 6-8 laps. I think 148 might of gotten 10 once, but I would have to look at the scouting sheets, which are with my team. But yeah it sounds like you are going to be able to get 6-8 laps a match. Good luck!

yeah we 7-10 laps per match every time ( maybe once we didn’t) but i would agree with the statement that practice rounds are easier and then the penalties will be so harsh in the competition its gonna be lane violations galore if you have a fast bot

At the Florida Regional the average laps were 4 to 6 but when I was pit scouting the team were saying that their average numbers of laps were like 18-20, didn’t see that happen at all. 13 is a pretty high number but if your robot is fast enough and you know how to get around the track well I could see how you could do it. Good luck and I believe we will see you and your team in Colorado next week.

A the detroit regianal our robot got 11 lapb in one of our qulification matches.

We were able to get 11 laps in our 3rd qualifying match and that held as record for the wisconsin regional the rest of the regional

I know team 141 probably could have gotten more laps if they focused only on lap running instead of hurdling but i don’t think it would have been a good trade off for them

Max I saw was 11 at Detorit

Ya, you guys were absolutely amazing. We’d love to race you some time. You were our top lap bot pick! I saw the match your bot got 11, that was crazy.

The best we’ve done with robots on the field was a 6-second lap. We approach 20 ft/s with our turbo on.

thanks, we are around 12ft/s. I really wish we hadn’t been a top 8 team tho. It would have been much easier to have been picked then hoping the teams above us will pick a lap bot over a hurdler for there first pick…

I’m not sure how many 2016 made, but they sure did have an extremely fast robot :yikes:

The most amount of laps I have seen at NJ, Kettering, and Pitt was at NJ with 102 going around 11 times. So 13 is pretty beast I must say.

We made 11 laps as well.

just to clear somthin up… were talkin bout laps just in teleoperated period? or overall?

Turbo? Sounds cool
Team 573’s best was 9 laps at Pittsburgh, our robot goes 19 ft/s. It is not just a racecar, but can knock balls off the rack too.

Any tips for our driver?

A nice one that I can put out there from experience…

Don’t get dehydrated 10 mins before your next match. Not the best thing to happen. After that I drank like 2 bottles between 5 mins before and 5mins after that match.

tanmaker, im pretty sure if we all agreed to take off the poker you and our robot would be gaining 2 or 3 more laps. thatd be a drop of bout 15 lbs or so. and i think we might have to try and convince our team to do that. that would allow us to reach our full potential of 23 ft/s if not more

we did 7 at the most, but we normally did like 5 or 6 per match.
