Help! In FIRST we connect our 10-turn pots to nylon sproket and hold the sproket into the chain. I have figured out how place the pot. in the correct location but i cannot figure out how to attach the 3/8" shaft to the approxamite 1/4" shaft of the pot. any suggestions … is it against the rules for me to ask these kinds of questions?
i dunno… i havent seen our pots ina LOOONG time. maybe never. we’ve obviously never used them. so. waht exactly do they look like? i dont thave the handbook handy right now.
Its this little blue thing with a small shaft sticking out of it, looks just like a rotary encoder … i can make the question so you dont have to under stand how a pot. works … we preety much need to attach a 1/4"(?) shaft to a 3/8" shaft
ahh… um how much torque is gonna be on these? at worst ducttape them together… or get a bushing on the 1/4 shaft with a OD of 3/8 and then get another bushing of inner diameter of 3/8 and go over both the 3/8 shaft and the 3/8 bushing which is over the 1/4 shaft and then drill a hole through both ends and tap a pin through them
Use a flexible shaft coupler. For an example of one that adapts a
1/4 inch shaft to a 3/8 inch shaft, see the web page at:

These couplers are available from many sources.
You can also use a coupler that is not flexible, but then you need to
make the mounting for the pot flex a little to avoid problems with binding.

BTW. What are you going to do with the pot? Unless you are programming it is useless. Now a limit switch-----thats easy to use.
We are going to automate our arm Chris Barch has already writen the code (twice) so that we can push a button an our arm will automaticly go to a location. Our team does this in FISRT and we going to do it in occra to but its harder to do in occra because we can make our own switches to program our preset positions.
