Team 134 miss’s our close friends from Trinity team #40.
For those of you who don’t know, they are not competing in FRC this year.
Check out our robot:
Wana tell us any info on why?
I believe they split into several VEX teams because it was more cost effective for their team. So they are still out there inspiring STEM.:]
I’m not entirely sure but I heard that team 40 has stopped doing FRC, because it was to expensive for 1 robot, and instead is now competing with 10 vex teams.
EDIT: BJC beat me to it…
Their sponsor, Intellitek, pulled out and they didn’t have a strong fundraising background so FRC was not an option this year. Luckily Intellitek gives them enough to do several strong VEX teams.
BJC is correct the funding was low for them this year. Team 40 has been involved in VEX for several years.
Hopefully sometime in the near future FRC40 will return. I am still dreaming about what their team will come up with this year! :o
It truly will be a different experience without team 40 there. You will be missed!
That’s a bummer. I’ve been playing with/against team 40 since I started. They’ve always been tremendously competitive and a pleasure in the pits. I’m sure team 95 has gotten out to a match because of help from 40 on more then one occasion, and I’m sure we’ve lost more then one match to those guys as well.
I hope they can find a way back into FRC.
We heard about the announcement in December when some of them came to help at our VEX tournament in Hawaii.
Hard to believe.
Their robot was awesome last year.
I found our 40 wasn’t returning to FRC competition yesterday. I was a little shaken, as I was a huge Checkmate fan the past few years. I wish I’d had the honor to work with them before the split, but, that’s how it goes.
I wish the former FRC Team 40, Checkmate, the best of luck in whatever they go on to do! They were a great FRC Team, I’m sure that will carry over to whatever they’ve gone on to do.
Hopefully we’ll see them again on the FRC field in the not-so-distant future
We will certainly miss our pit neighbors and many-a-time alliance partners at the competitions this year. Even when they weren’t competing, they were always volunteering at the competitions throughout the region and were always helpful. Not many teams brought robots to the competitions that inspired me and others as much as much as theirs did. Team 40 will certainly be missed, but their inspiration will live on!
Team 40 showed me what was possible with pocketing at nationals last year.
This is a great disappointment, hope you guys can make it back next year.
Fortunes rise and fall.
I will personally miss Trinity this year like no other team.
They consistently built exceptional and competitive robots with awesome drive systems year after year after…
Their appearance, with apologies to Purina Pet foods, was a marketers dream.
The fact that they have chosen to maintain their involvement in robotics through the VEX program shows that their mission to involve students in creative solutions to unique problems through technology, is intact.
They get it.
I will truly miss their presence at FRC events.
:`-(
Thanks for the kind words and cute video 134!
Team 40 is alive and doing very well. We have 12 VRC teams and will be competing this year in over 10 regional competitions, a national championship and a world championship. Each team is made up of 2-3 students and each team “owns” their design. The students are learning a lot and having a ton of fun, which is what this all about.
It is unfortunate we could not do FRC this year, but we as mentors feel it was the best decision for our team given our resources for the 2012 season. intelitek was just as surprised as most of you when Joe and I suggested not doing FRC this year. intelitek is 100% behind Trinity HS and whatever the robotics team chooses to do.
Team 40 wishes you all good luck this year in FRC! It looks like another fun competition. We be rooting for you at BAE!
