Can anyone already done or a veteran tell me how many approximate frames are in 30 seconds. I am trying to tell how close we are and spacing between scenes. Are rendering will probably at the last second so all info is helpful. Thx for the help!
yeha i caluclated it to be about 909 frames
Well, theoretically, 30 seconds at 30 fps is 900 frames. Anything over that puts you in risk of having it cut off, but anything important won’t be in the last 9 or so frames. Just keep it at 900 and you’re totally safe.

Really you shoudl have your animation be 28-29 sec, and leave the rest black, just in case, cause if you go over you’ll get dq’d
You have a point, but I think that since it’s being judged by people that are familiar with the program (I think), they will know how long it has to be.
And I thought they just stopped judging after 30 seconds. Are you DQ’ed if you go over?
I don’t think your DQ, I think they just stop watching. You may not want to put 30 frames per second into your animation. I think that a nicer fps is about 24. I think you should test your animation in both to see what you perfer.
We have done the animation aspect of the competition now for five years and we always submit at 30fps. It looks great but takes longer to render. Also, I believe that the company that is taking care of the videos cuts the animation off to tape right when your final 5 seconds of black space appear.
I’m not completely sure about the 5 seconds of blank space, but also remember that FIRSt asked (not required) to leave some blank space in your animation

Yeah but we wanted to follow all of the rules to the “T” since we were submitting two animations. We already had troubles doing that so we had to show them the correct ruling. This way we won’t have to explain ourselves.
