off board compressor

Hi.

We’re using an off board compressor, and we noticed that the inspection checklist said that we needed to mount the 125psi regulator on our robot. We intended on limiting the entire system to 60psi, including the storage tanks and everything else. Can we use 1 regulator set at 60psi, or do we need to mount the 125psi regulator directly behind our first regulator?

Thanks for your help!!!

the KOP compressor, with the sensor and emergency release won’t go past ~120psi. from there, you are allowed to fill the tanks to 120, but directly after the tanks you use the norgren(?) regulator (the black one, not the yellow one) to limit pressure to the cylinders and solenoids to 60 psi. also, why are you limiting your entire system to 60psi? you won’t get very much working pressure. just fill the tanks to 120, then use the regulator (that you’ll need anyways) to lower AFTER the tanks to 60. You’ll now hold twice as much volume of air, just in case of an emergency. also, it doesn’t hurt to have too much air…you may suddenly find a small leak and loose pressure slowly. believe me, always carry as much air as possible…

So, we don’t need the 125psi regulator? We do use the 60psi regulator on our robot.

And yes, we really do want to limit the entire system to 60.

Yes you need the 125 PSI emergency relief valve. Even if your entire system is at 60 PSI. Why do you want to limit your system to 60 PSI?

60psi is all we need. So the regulator has to be on our robot? Or can it be offboard with our compressor?

Yes You need to 125 PSI emergency relief valve on your robot if you have an offboard compressor. 60 PSI may be all you need but 120 won’t hurt you.

Ok, thanks for your help.

Wait a minute… the relief valve is what goes on the back of the compressor. Regulators are what I’m concerned with… so do we need a 120psi REGULATOR on the robot, or are we ok with just our 60psi regulator?

You don’t need one of the regulators set to 120, but since your not using an on board compressor you need to have one of those things on the end of the compressor, on your pneumatic system. That is what the inspection checklist was refering to.

so on your robot you need
125 emergency relief [the brass piece]
norgren electronic pressure sensore [one with the pwm cable]
main regulator to 60psi
flow valve

??
and then spike relays and such for the compressor offboard?

Yes, you also need a pressure gauge that reads the pressure of your tanks.
