Saw a thread for off-season west coast drives… I wonder what we’re doing with our west coast. 4 Neos can accelerate you pretty quickly. (Below is our first test, the passenger is not me)
I want this but swerve and with a wireless controller so you can drive + ride
We have done it with wireless + putting a driver station on a robot really fun to drive yourself.
We also originally tried on an old swerve drive but it wasn’t powerful enough. I don’t know why I wasn’t working on it.
1533 put a lawnchair on a swerve base during an offseason competition after donating their main bot to another team for the event.
It was weighed down to (near) max weight with a Pushing Power Cube™ full of old motors.
I see this and all I can think is “HELMET! YOU SHOULD BE WEARING A HELMET!”
…and maybe elbow/knee pads.
Woohoo, another chair bot! Here’s a 2020 video where our ChairBot decided to get revenge on our main driver, enjoy! 2020 Howdython - Pac-Bot Drives ZachBot - YouTube
Love to see that traversal climb in action.
Glad someone brought this up. This was 4 years ago when both the Raptor and NEOs were both pre-production. One of my fondest memories in high school was driving our coach around our cafeteria to try to break something (other than bones). Good times.
My personal favorite chairbot is by team 1072.
If you need to reduce the acceleration down a little bit, check out Slew Rate Limiters.
one of my first memories of FRC was as a freshman in fall 2018 driving around the basement of the school on a chair bolted to a KOP chassis. one time someone accidentally turned off the laptop that we were using to run the code for it and i started spinning around in circles until i managed to find the breaker and turn it off. good times.
HAHA I love slew limiters… our drivers do not.
Make them drive from the chair of death next time, they might reconsider : D
