Dang, Chief Delphi is out. They lost their battery connection at the end of match 2. They were pushing the blue robot all over though, they had a great drive system.
Now the 1st and 3rd seed are out.
Semis now,
Loss Seed #8 872 - 1006 - 302
vs.
Win Seed #4 541 - 27 - 1126

Does anyone know the specifics of what happened to their battery connection? (If it can happen to them, it can probably happen to others also. I figure forewarned in forearmed.)
DougHogg- I’m not exactly sure what happened to Cheif Delphi’s battery, but it happened to a lot of other teams too. Some teams batteries even fell off of their bot!
Make sure your battery is secured.
Also, there was one team that forget to connect their battery for their robot before the competition, so it just sat there during the competition, don’t let that happen to you.

Thanks.
I remember a suggestion from FIRST in the manual to secure the battery connection with some velcro. We never did before, but we are going to start.

It could actually be the connector from the battery to the main breaker. At the UTC Scrimmage we had to zip tie the connection each time we put in a new battery, for it continually came loose (and it doesn’t take much slack to break the circuit).
I’m the coach and can tell you that I messed up by not taking all the time alloted to set up carefully enough. I felt the connector snap together, but our battery location wasn’t the best and I couldn’t get a tie wrap to fit around the connection, if my life depended on it. Another lesson learned - here - we will be re-arranging the battery connector to get to it easier. Tough brake for us - but, no one to blame but me!
As for the regional, Congrats to Team 27 and their partners - they fought for everything and earned a GREAT victory!
And to our partners - Team 33 Killer Bees and 191 Wilson Xerox - you are GREAT partners, sorry we let you down. Hope to get another chance, so we can redeem ourselves.
To the teams that gave us awards and compliments - I’d just like to say “Thanks”- those really do mean alot to us.
Goodluck to all - next weekend. Can’t wait to get back into the battle - just 2 weeks till Great Lakes!
Team 522 had the same issue last year at the NYC Regionals. We accidentally forgot to tie rap the battery connection due to being rushed on and off the field. the match that counted most was the one where we forgot to tie rap the battery connection. towards the middle / end of the match a robot came along snagged the connection and neither or us gained many points after that.
about the first seeded team being eliminated…my team,573, was paired with them for the first match and our robot had been running fine for the most part during the entire comp, minus a track being knocked off here and there, but it was fixed before picking…no one even saw it coming but for some odd reason during the autonomous mode when were going to knock down the wall the battery drained EXTREMELY fast, if you watch the SOAP video you can see that our light was dying, had it not died it would have been real easy for us to spread our wings and clear the ramp like we’ve done before.
also at the end of the second match there wasnt enough room for team 73 to get up the ramp so it went back to knock some bins off the ramp into the zone, if im not mistaken their robot was still touching one of the bins which was touching others when time ended
they did have an excellent robot, they had made a nice stack and held it until the end
we feel real bad about what happened because we had high hopes for that alliance and we would like to thank 1022 for picking us and wish them and team 73 the best of luck.

In one match at the Chatsworth Scrimmage, we had a problem with our light dying. We then had a similar intermittent problem back at the school. The problem went away when we changed the radio on our operator interface.

At first when I saw the match I thought Chiefdelphi got disabled for pinning 226 to the side because they both were fighting over a stack and the ref was counting. We were busy fighting with the Martians who were tough all day and when I turn back around the Chief is dead at the bottom of the ramp. We fought the Martians hard to keep them off the top and they just ran down at the end and slapped away a box and won it by 1 point.
It happens. It was cetainly an excitng day to say the least! I can’t wait to go to Houston!
Team 1022 wishes to thank everyone in the Cleveland Regional. We had an Awesome time. It was totally unbelievable that we would capture the 1 Seed. In the Finals we had a Great stacker, Team 73, who put together a stack of 4. We lost only due to them touching a box in our area at then end. What a good way to get knocked out, It only shows how close our Alliance was to going on with a chance at the Big Dance. Team 573 did a great job of clearing the ramp of boxes during autonomous mode in previous rounds. We could not have asked for a better Alliance.
Congrats to the Winners of the Buckeye Regional
Teams:
27 - Rush
541 - Max S. Hayes
1126 - SparX (rookie)

I remember when people were talking about making a bot that would hurl the boxes and thought it was all just a lark but you guys not only made it real but made it practical.
Awesome job guys!
