Oklahoma City Regional- Pre-compitition

Well let me start off by saying the Devastators are extremely excited to be participating in our FIRST ever out of state regional. We were just wondering?

  1. Will there be a webcast?
  2. Anything cool to do in the city?

Also good luck to all the team competing. Also good luck to all those nominated for the Woodie Flowers award. You all deserve it and a essential to our team. Finally good luck to all the students nominated for Dean’s List! We should really find a space and get to know each other! Good luck to all the teams and if you haven’t filled out the google spreadsheet about your robot you are encouraged too.

Here is the google spreadsheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgTAk_SjEgh1dHhOU3c2cXd1dWZIZjNmcTZUNUlrR1E&usp=drive_web#gid=0

Webcast will be at http://botsnlinux.net/okcregional/ and on TBA.

Downtown OKC is pretty nice. The Botannical Gardens is right next to the Cox Center one side; “Bricktown”, with a series of restaurants and riverwalk is on the other. The OKC bombing memorial is just a few blocks north. A little further south there’s a nice park along the river. But I’ll admit, despite living on the north side of OKC for four years, I’ve spent more time in the Cox Center for FRC than I have in the rest of downtown… :o

Two fun things to do:

  1. OKC Riversport - if the weather cooperates - they are open Friday/Saturday evening until 8pm this time of year.

  2. OKC Thunder has a home game against Sacramento on Friday evening, though nosebleed seats are probably $50 each on stubhub and you probably can’t get more than two of them together.

Good luck!

One more:

H&8th – big food truck gathering on Friday evening w/ live music. There are about 30 trucks, so lots of selection.

It is about 2 blocks west and 8 blocks north of the convention center (a little NW Of the OKC bombing memorial). Hudson and 8th street. It tends to get packed, with long lines, the later you show up.

Oklahoma regional is my favorite to watch. I don’t even know why. Good luck everybody!
