Wow, I haven’t been on these forums in awhile… it’s amazing to see how they’ve changed in three years…
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has a link to a FIRST Video shown at the 2001 Kickoff event that showed the previous ten years of games and ended with a “What comes next is up to you” type of line.
If anyone could help me find this, I’d appreciate it.
Someone should set up a FIRST archive to specifically save historical FIRST documents, like kickoff videos and competition documents, and to keep records, like regional/national results and team amounts at each. It HAS been over 10 years since the creation of FIRST, with hopefully centuries more to come. Wouldn’t it be nice to have something to show for past years?
Well, im going to do u guys a little favor. I’ll set up a FTP account for you on one of my websites. Keep in mind, theyres only like 500 megs to work with, but if it gets the job done, knock urself out. Here is the info.

and i’m sure FIRST probably has this archived, they just don’t announce it to the world. You can still find LAST years kick-off video, which means you can probably find the rest of them.

**Eric Bareiss, can you put the file on magnasmific’s server then put a link on CD? Thx for the ftp space magnasmific. **
Unfortunately, it looks like Eric’s last post on CD was the one in this topic, meaning that he hasn’t seen the FTP information yet. I’ve PMed him, hoping that he’ll check this topic the next time he’s on the site.
Sorry that I haven’t uploaded it yet, I am having lot’s of trouble getting the software to do it. I’m not a web guy I’m a robot guy. I’m trying to get it uploaded but we’ll see how that goes.
As for why I haven’t checked this thread, anyone who knows what three college midterms in one week is like, knows why I haven’t checked CD in a week.
Also its not the kickoff itself, its a just a clip that they showed at the kickoff, I didn’t want to get your hopes up

Thanks a lot.
Not sure if you need any advice, but for uploading to FTP servers, I’d reccomend SmartFTP. It’s free and it works well enough.

Showing all the 10 past years’ competition games? I’m looking forward to it.
1.) Get an FTP browser. SmartFTP is free and works great, but there are many others out there. If need be, configure the browser to work with your PC. (Example: if you have a firewall, set the program to “Passive Mode”)
2.) Have the FTP browser connect to ftp.grovelandfire.org - in SmartFTP, this goes in the box marked “Address”
3.) The User ID is [email protected] whereas the password is first (lowercase - appears to be case-sensitive). In SmartFTP, the fields for these areas (Login and Password) are in the same menu bar as Address)
4.) Right click on the file, and choose to download or save as.
Hope that works for you guys. I’ve downloaded the file successfully. Haven’t gotten a chance to watch it yet, though - DivX isn’t working (grr…)
