Our team recently received a whole bunch of stuff from the defunct team 497 in Orange County. We have sorted it but don’t know if it is still legal for FIRST, here is what we got:
Kitbot chassis with gearboxes
6 1/4" shaft CIM motors
A bunch of circuit breakers
Crimp connectors
A 2004 Robot Controller and OI
An “Edu bot” and controls
Tons of PWM cables
Pneumatic tubing
11x 1 1/2" bore pneumatic cylinders
4x 2" bore cylinders
5x 3/4" bore cylinders
A pneumatic rotary actuator
A gallon bag of pneumatic fittings
A bag of pressure guages and sensors
A bag of solenoids
A breaker panel with a PWM port and a serial port
8 Victor 884’s
8 Spikes
Some more serial and tether cables
3 more batteries
A bunch of servos
A CMU camera
I haven’t seen the parts, so I don’t know what make/model some of the stuff is.
You can always make an off-season robot for training purposes.
That is a nice selection of parts. Only the controllers, batteries, and CMU camera cannot be used as spare components in future competitions. If the pneumatic parts are unused, they can possibly be used on future robots. A quick check of the pneumatics list for that year will tell you that.
Always check the FIRST manual for that year before using any parts (the flow chart at the end of The Robot section is very handy). Also, What is and isn’t legal now may radically change next year with the introduction of a new control system. However, here’s what I believe is allowed this year…
Kitbot chassis with gearboxes - Chassis yes, gearboxes probably not
6 1/4" shaft CIM motors - If the part number is FR801-001 then yes
A bunch of circuit breakers - 20A, 30A and 40A MAXI fuses yes
Crimp connectors - yes
A 2004 Robot Controller and OI - yes for now, but I’d recommend only using it for like a test bot, not your competition robot
An “Edu bot” and controls - again, not for competition but for a testbot
Tons of PWM cables - yes
Pneumatic tubing - If it is from previous kits, yes
11x 1 1/2" bore pneumatic cylinders - Check BIMBA free order form, depends on stroke
4x 2" bore cylinders - Check BIMBA free order form
5x 3/4" bore cylinders - Check BIMBA free order form
A pneumatic rotary actuator - Check BIMBA free order form
A gallon bag of pneumatic fittings - probably yes
A bag of pressure guages and sensors - probably yes
A bag of solenoids - probably yes
A breaker panel with a PWM port and a serial port - not sure what this is…
8 Victor 884’s - yes
8 Spikes - If their same as this year’s kit, yes
Some more serial and tether cables - yes
3 more batteries - For competition, only the 2007 and newer batteries are allowed (newer batteries are a light gray, older ones are a dark gray)
A bunch of servos - Model HS-322HD, yes
A CMU camera - yes
The circuit breakers he is talking about are the black ones that plug into the power distribution panel or the MAXI Fuse block. (Small ones say either 20AMP or 30AMP, large ones say 40AMP)
PS:
I really miss the power distribution panel from 2005. It was the best thing ever made for a robot… so convenient and reliable with some pretty neat debug features.
