Hey! I work with the CNC for 1153 and we’ve recently ran into an issue with it. Anytime we put in a drill or endmill into our CNC it simply does not spin. It goes down in the order operations would happen, but the drill doesn’t spin meaning we cannot cut. Myself and the other person who uses CNC for our team have tried many different things to see if it works (ex: turning on and off CNC, not using templates, trying other files, etc.), but nothing seems to work.
We use Fusion360 for the files and recently started using templates and a machine to see if it makes production go faster (the templates especially speed things up, I highly suggest using them). Either way we drilled two plates out using templates, worked great. Introduced a machine and the entire thing stopped working. We tried getting rid of the machine to see if that was the issue but the same thing happened.
If you have any information on how to fix this, it’d be very much appreciated. We’ll keep you updated if we find a solution.
Zatack7 has the right idea. Not only should you check the dedicated Omio thread, but do the obvious things first. Try to run the spindle just using the manual commands in mach3. Check the physical connections to the spindle motor all the way back to the controller. Check the wires themselves to be sure something didn’t pinch or cut one. There are a host of reasons why this might happen that have nothing to do with software. Check those first before you go on to more difficult troubleshooting/solutions.
It sounds like the hardware works or worked. Assuming that is correct. Are you giving a speed for the tool? If it is 0 or similar, you get what you command. I would also look at the G code and make sure the spindle is turned on in code and given a speed. I can give examples tomorrow.
