With so many teams using the Omio X8 I was wondering if a Fusion 360 tool library for it exists yet somewhere before we start creating our own.
From what I’ve seen, tool libraries are designed and tuned for specific individual tools and personal machining preferences. There are likely many libraries for the x8, but they might not perform to your expectations, especially with different tool manufacturers and specifications.
I’d encourage you to develop your own tool library, as it will allow you to better understand the limitations of your tools and machine, and also enable you to optimize for your machining style. An existing library could be a good place to start, but the best libraries are built up through extensive time with the machine and tooling.
Seconded. We make our own tools in Fusion (we only have like 5 bits we use). The process was pretty straightforward and took under 5 minutes per bit. It’s a good teaching point as well about how to identity and setup a new tool in general for the students. They would need to know how to do this in general outside of FRC
In the Omio tips and tricks thread, there are a lot tool and template library. Search is your friend.
It is a long read now but the thread will tell you all you want to know about using the omio
