Only 1 camera allowed?

Q: May we add more than one camera to the robot, In relation to R39-R40.
A: No.

I’m trying to figure out the reasoning behind only allowing 1 camera. The cameras are COTS (or at least assembled from COTS, if you count the camera, motherboard, interface board seperately). It costs less then $200 ($199.95 from IFI, $199.00 from other places).

Or, is the response only saying you can’t add them for free, like you would add a speed controller?

I saw this and was surprised as well. I can’t figure out what the logic is behind the simple “no” that they provided. I asked the person on our team with access to post questions to ask for a clarification, but I don’t think he did yet. Has anyone else thought of asking? Here’s what I would like to ask:

“ID: 1007 Q: May we add more than one camera to the robot, In relation to R39-R40. A: No.” Please explain. An additional camera appears to pass the Parts Use flowchart and meets the cost requirements, so why would it not be allowed?
