Only Load Driver Station on Secondary Laptop in "Driver" User Account

I noticed that on the Classmates, when the driver account is loaded, the only program to run is the driver station program in full screen.

We installed the driver station on a separate laptop and it works properly. However when the driver account loads the driver station does not start up as the only program to run in full screen mode.

I added the driver station into the START -> All Programs -> Startup folder to solve the start up issue.

I was wondering if there is a start up script available for a non classmate laptops driver account so that it loads in the same manner as the classmates… I.E.: full screen, the only program to load, no start bar.

FYI: We are running win7 using LabVIEW.

It’s likely that the other laptop has a different screen size/resolution than the tiny Classmate screen. The Driver Station and Dashboard will fill less of the screen and probably won’t tile and remove the borders like it does on the Classmate.

You are actually seeing two programs, the Driver Station and the Dashboard. Driver Station loads the Dashboard and they neatly tile together and fill the screen on the Classmates.

You can edit the Dashboard and customize it as you like. If you open it and look at the code it’s fairly easy to see how the screen attributes are set when it detects that it is using the “Driver” account.

However, since the Driver Station is supplied from FIRST and can’t be altered, you can’t do much to it, even change the size on the screen.

You can configure the driver station to be the shell for that account (like the classmate does).

Actually, in somewhat of a reverse question, how would you change the shell for the Driver account to something else (and then have the Driver Station startup elsewhere)?

I load task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and open Explorer as a new task. That gives you the Windows Taskbar. I’m not sure how to make that permanant.

You don’t. The point is to use the developer account when you need access to anything other than the driver station and to use the driver account only for driving. You can use explorer for mundane tasks but I wouldn’t recommend using driver for anything more than that, because you start impacting performance on the DS.

How? Google has failed me thus far.

Oh that explains things :o
