Onshape Webinar - Switching from GrabCAD Workbench to Onshape

There’s been a huge amount of discussion about GrabCAD Workbench shutting down on June 1st and we’ve received a lot of questions here at Onshape about whether it will be a suitable replacement. Onshape can replace Workbench + your CAD software of choice with one unified tool.

To help your team make the decision and transition, the PTC Education team will be hosting a webinar today on Tuesday, May 23rd at 4PM (ET). We’ll discuss how you can set your team up, import your models, and get up to speed with Onshape. If you’re interested, you can sign up with the link below. If you’re unable to attend, signing up will ensure you’re sent a video of the recording.

Thanks for the webinar, Drew! I appreciate the demo you did for my answer about design library workflow. It’s still not as seamless as the solidworks design library integration is, but your solution is definitely the best one I’ve seen for this issue so far.

I enjoyed this webinar a lot. Very cool to see the McMaster → Import workflow, MKCAD Library, and Julia Feature Scripts demoed.

We’ve got a recording and will get it uploaded into the Onshape Learning Center in the next few days, and I’ll make sure to drop a link to it here when it’s up!

I’m glad it was helpful! I do agree that it’s not as seamless as the SW workflow, but hopefully this will work for your team. There were some good discussions between FRC teams and Onshape leadership at LiveWorx about ways to make part libraries and COTS parts usage easier, so a lot of key leaders know this is an area to keep improving on.

Thank you, and thanks for the questions! If you (or anyone else reading this) still have workflow questions, feel free to reach out to us at competitions (at) ptc.com.

For me on MacOs Fireox as well.

Whoops, my bad, I thought those links stayed active for a little bit after the webinar. Sorry about that. I’ll make sure to get a link posted here as soon as it’s up!
