This information applies only to teams in Ontario.
Each year the Ontario Provincial government gives out Volunteer Service Awards to community volunteers. Adults are recognized for 5, 10, 15 etc years volunteering with the organization. Youth (under age 24) are recognized for 2 or more years service. Each organization may nominate up to nine volunteers (at least three of the nominees must be youth). Those nominating only adults are limited to six nominees.
A certificate and pin are presented at a more-or-less local ceremony.
A nice way to recognize your volunteers.
Nominations are made on line. Further information at http://www.citizenship.gov.on.ca/english/citizenship/honours/vsa.shtml
