As some of you may or may not know, we’ve been lucky enough to have a full practice field setup at our school since 2009. We’re going to open it up again to anyone who would like to use it Starting the week of January 31st. Hours will be from ~4pm-9pm Monday-Thursday, ~4pm-5:30pm Fridays, and 8am-2:30pm on Saturdays.
Our field is a full sized field, fully carpeted, with 4 towers, two full peg structures and 4 Feeding Slots. It’s built to the “low cost” field drawings, but it works well enough to get an idea for the real field. As of right now, I’m still working on getting the appropriate tape for line tracking, and possibly the reflective material for some of the pegs to allow for Camera Tuning.
Only thing we like to ask is that you bring your own game pieces, once AM has them for sale we plan on purchasing at least 3 more of each, but until that happens, we’d like to attempt to keep our only 3 in decent shape. Also, Bumpers are not mandatory - but if you think that your robot might damage something without them on then we suggest you bring a set.

Team 293 would love to come by again this year, last years visit allowed us to learn about some limitations that we didn’t consider.
I will get back to you later, first we need to build a bot.
Stogi, the Carpet on our Practice field is tan, not dark grey like the competition field. I’m currently working on a solution to allow for line tracking - but it might end up being a separate piece of carpet with it’s own pegs to allow teams to test tracking.
Thanks! We’d love it if 272 stopped by!
Cool, you guys are welcome anytime!
Here’s a picture to give everyone an idea of the field, and it also shows the color of the carpet:

The Pegs, Feeder Slots and Lines were not in place last weekend when I took this picture so I’ll try to take one tonight if our meeting isn’t canceled.
I’m still unsure of line tracking on our Carpet, we haven’t gotten our sensors hooked up to the robot yet, but once we do, we’ll see it it works. I’d imagine it would, but I just want to make sure.
As build season comes to a close, I just wanted to remind everyone that our Practice field is open. Looks like we’ve got a few teams planning on stopping by during the week as well as a few teams on Saturday.
If you’re interested in coming, please PM or E-Mail me at thefro526(at)yahoo.com. We’d like to ask that you try to schedule at least one Day in Advance.
As of right now, for the rest of the week, the field will be available from 5pm-~9pm Monday through Friday, 11am-3pm on Saturday and ~9am-3pm on Sunday.
Again, we ask that you bring some form of bumpers, either complete or incomplete so that if your robot should hit the field walls, or another robot, we can minimize damage. Also, if you can bring your own tubes, that would be good as well, right now we have 4 of each tube, in addition to 2 or 3 uber tubes.
Update: We’re no longer allowed to Practice Friday Evening or Sunday.
Monday for most of the day, we should be open. If anyone is interested in coming please shoot me an email and we’ll figure out times.
