I was just wondering what where some of the favorite designs you have all seen this year and in the past (parts, overall robot, etc…)

Not to be bias but personally I like the way my teams robot gets onto the puck. I also like Clinton/Nypros overall design they can do it all! WPI has a great drive system (much like delphi in 98).

I really like #71 - Beatty’s velcro pickup system. It’s such a simple solution to such a complex problem. Very elegant.

This year I also like #16 - Baxter’s drivetrain. That thing is crazy. Who woulda thought to put two drive systems on one robot?? It seems to do wonders for them. Very creative.

For '98 I LOVED the #45 - Delphi/Kokomo gripper. The roller on the side allowed it to hold balls tightly, while picking up fast and reliably. The roller even guided balls into the gripper that weren’t perfectly centered! Very impressive.

I’m not gonna sit around bragging about my 'bot – but of course I love that one too… =)

See you all in Florida! The clock is ticking!

I liked Assabet’s drive system and the way they could get up and down off of the
puck quickly and powerfully. I also liked Boston Edison’s arm, and the many things
it could do. But I disagree I thnk that Clinton/Nypro just got lucky and are very
beatable and lack some key design features. I think that Nasa Woodside
is going to win it all, SO WATCH OUT! They get to the puck quicker than
anyone. They were the California Regional Champions!!!

the fact of the matter is, every team is beatable, but this alliance thing makes that the most prevalent and important feature of the competition. during any given match with any given teams, just the one you think is the best may lose provided they are not with a compliant alliance partner, or the other 2 make a better pair. alliances make it all the more reasonable that every team lacks something along the lines of capabilities…
everyone can lose… until the alliance pairings are set in stone, you can’t count anyone in or anyone out, because it’s not about how good an individual team is, but rather how cohesively the alliance works…

best of luck to all teams in florida… put your hearts into every move, that’s what we’ll be doing…
