Organizing Drill Bits and Allen Wrenches

We have four teams (1 FRC + 3 FTC), so it’s pretty hard to get everybody to put hex keys and drill bits back perfectly. Having the inexpensive items in greater quantities has been the strategy.

For drill bits, I made a bunch of sets of our four most common bits and put them in some printed and labeled cases. I’ve ordered those sizes by the dozen, so it’s never hard to find one of those. Having the commonly needed ones easily available tends to somewhat slow the process of ransacking the full sets of drill bits.

This is what the Allen wrenches look like right now. This makes it easy to put a bunch of them away at once, and we never run out of a common size. The T handles are still a mess. I need to tape those and separate out the sizes that hardly ever get used, similar to what we’ve done with the L keys.
