Other engineering forums?

I have some personal projects that I want to share that aren’t allowed on CD, even though this is the perfect environment (it’s not FRC/a little bit against rules). Are there any places on the web that I could post these things? I want to share them, this just isn’t the place.

Reddit has a ton of communities dedicated to a bunch of niche creations. I can assure whatever you have imagined or thought of will be appreciated by someone on Reddit somewhere. Limitations vary greatly sub-reddit to sub-reddit - some are very relaxed with moderation while others not so much.

Another forum that I know are some on Facebook. Yeah, I know the memes will come but it can be a cool place to connect with people who share an interest. I am on a 3D printing one on FB, and I have had some great food for thought come up over there.

GitHub and StackExchange are definitely more on the technical side I would say.

An older, popular engineering-specific forum is Eng-Tips - I have referenced this page multiple times for technical information, however, posts can be pretty industry/technology specific. I typically find news on there more than hobby discussion, but its worth a shot.

To be honest, a quick google will most likely give you a pretty accurate summary of what is out there.

Overall CD is pretty incredible - I have asked questions for both work and personal projects in the past on here (pretty tough to tell the difference), and I received no backlash. It was STEM/engineering related of course.

When you say “a little bit against the rules” … Regardless of where the content is posted, PLEASE be wise as to what you post - keep in mind there is a human being behind every screen.

its nothing bad, just something that CD wouldn’t allow.

reddit is definitely a good idea, i’ve seen quite a few communities around this specifically.
