Palmetto Regional

Team 1746 is showing up for our first visit to Palmetto.

and zakk, we’re going to be at Peachtree as well.

Team 346 will be there for the first time (in a while?)

I hope everyone at Palmetto has fun this year! Palmetto has treated team 11 well and I’m sad to hear they won’t be going back there this year. Columbia is gorgeous so I hope everyone takes advantage of the great area and regional!

Good luck 1251…I’ll be rooting for you!

dude, im soooo siked that palmetto is coming up. i hope that the competition will be awesome agian this year like it has in years past. we havent had as much success here as other places, but we hope to change that. we’ve worked out the bugs and are ready. im sry to see that teams like 180 and 11 wont be there this year. and 180, i hope that yall can get ur budget worked out. yall are one of my favorite teams year in and out to watch. we cant wait to c all of u there!

can someone tell me if they have a double ramp bot and are going to palmetto? i would really love to know. because ive only seen one ramp bot that is going.

thanks

I believe I have only seen 2 ramp robots attending palmetto from the pictures that I have seen, 1390 and 801, if there are any more I would also love to know

So is anyone up for [FF] Palmetto.

Also I know 801 can hold two robots. I am almost certain 1390 is also capeable. From the looks of it palmetto is gonna be mostly ringer scoring.

I can’t wait.

hehe, thats wat we are hoping for… lots of ringers :D. it’ll be exciting.

This may be off topic but does anyone know about a webcast the nasa page does not have it.

another team that has a ramp is 1102

Team 832 will be coming to Palmetto; this will be our first time there. We got in late so we might not be on the list yet, but we will be there just the same. And 1102 definitley has a ramp. We climbed it at Peachtree!

We have a ramp.

i looked at a list earlier and palmetto wasn’t on the list for webcast. i could b wrong, but that is wat was on the first sit last week.

Dose anyone if there is Team Social and were its at?

its at one of the USC school of engineering buildings. it isn’t far from the colonial center.

Yep.

The State Museum is not too terribly far from the Colonial Center, but far enough to justify moving your car.

Speaking of cars and such, keep in mind that the parking at the Colonial Center is also a very popular commuter lot for USC students, one that is not generally closed down for Palmetto. (Well, it hasn’t been closed the past three years.)

I’ve heard talk of special parking for buses, but I can’t confirm that. But if you’re coming in cars, come early. By 8:00 AM on a regular class day, things are already a little cozy down there. If you move the car for lunch, expect to take some time to find a new spot!

Also, I’ll note that there are food options out there–if you know where you’re going. The Russell House University Union has a plethora of quick-service food at tolerable prices (Burger King, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Chick-Fil-A, Einstein Bros. Bagels, etc.), and is only about a half-mile from the Colonial Center. You can get there one of two ways: take the Express shuttle (RHUU is only a little bit further along Greene–you can see it from the corner) or walk it. There’s a pedestrian underpass below Assembly Street between the Carolina Coliseum and the Law School that will spare you most of the uphill hike, plus the fun of playing human Frogger on Assembly Street. I wouldn’t recommend going that path alone at three in the morning, but it’s fine during the day.

Alternatively, if the match algorithm gods have smiled upon you and you have more time, I wholeheartedly recommend Gibbes Court at the bottom of Capstone House. This one will all but require a bus–for this one, take the Red shuttle to Capstone at Barnwell–this is a long trip, but it also gives you a nice view of campus. Just be sure to get back on the road before 1:00, as the route goes from two buses to one at that point.

Or, if you’re looking for off-campus grub, many students find themselves drawn to Beezer’s at 919-B Sumter Street–it’s literally across the street from where the Red shuttle stops at on the Horseshoe. They do subs like nobody’s business, and eating there on five bucks is entirely possible. Grab a sub, spread out on the Horseshoe for a bit, and hop the Express back down to the Coliseum stop (or walk back, if you want to work off the sandwich).

From the looks of it NASA won’t web cast the event this year, or at least palmetto is not on their list. Is there any other source of web cast or this year there won’t be any?

im not sure if they are or they aren’t
earlier in the week palmetto was on the list, but now it isnt

So, its that time, Palmetto is closing in, only a few days left untill 1251 departs on their 12 hour van voyage!
