2008 Lightning Robotics Sumo Bot Competition Manual
by: Joe J.

This is the rulebook for the sumo bot competition I run for Lightning Robotics. This was the fourth year of the competition.

Started in 2005 the Lightning Robotics Sumo Bot Competition (LRSBC), is a fun and creative way for team members to put what they have learned about engineering, while working on our teams robot, to the test by building tabletop, tether controlled robots, to compete in a hybrid SumoBot / BattleBot style competition, where the Sumo Arena is changed every year to provide new design challenges. Like FIRST participants get a Kit Of Parts at a Kickoff, which includes materials to build a very basic robot, they are then on their own to design and over the course of the Six and a half week Build Season, build their own machine, while following rules regulating size, weight, cost, and material use. The competition is open to students, parents, mentors, and alumni from our team and teams in the surrounding area. Please contact me for more info.
