2016 Champs Watching Guide

A guide containing predicted scores for each qualification match at the World Championship

With eight fields running at once, it is hard to pick which matches to watch at champs (unless you are willing to let #FIRSTChampLIVE pick for you). For this reason, I created a document that has predicted scores and score differentials for all of the matches from all of the divisions. Large predicted scores and small score differentials are highlighted in red.

The predicted scores are calculated by adding the auto and teleop component OPR data for each team on each alliance. The data is from 4536’s scouting database.

I sorted the data to find some of the exciting matches.

Matches both alliances are really competitive:

Jokes aside, thanks for putting this together. I’ll be interested to see how closely your list matches what the FIRSTChampLive crew covers.

Hopper Match 45

Hopper Match 45 is the reason we try to get to champs.

We try to schedule in free time for students at the event. This paper will help me help them find some fun matches off our field. Much appreciated!

Super excited for Match 45 on Hopper. It’s gonna be a slugfest.

Wil, do you mean Hopper? I would have hoped by now you knew your own field.

dude i am so tired but at least i didn’t have to tune a catapult

wil plz, we maybe have it working, don’t jinx us. In the mean time, did y’all get climbing yet?

I can tell you that our battery has a zero percent chance of falling out at any stage of the match

It better not.

Well, did you sort out your comms issues yet? I remember that being a problem at CHCMP. Maybe just go softer over the rockwall and ramparts.

EDIT: Back on topic, this would be super useful if I didn’t have to drive. It will be a good list of matches to go and rewatch though, suggesting they all have videos.

Since FIRST released the official schedules today and made changes from the preliminary ones, I updated this. The schedule for Carson was regenerated (I think this was because 1625 replaced 5931). The red and blue alliances were switched in all of the other divisions (I am not sure why FIRST made this change).

I also updated the exciting match lists.
