Quad Quandary Score Calculator V2
by: nonother
A significant update to the previous version. Allows for calculating the scores for both alliances, or having one alliance automatically generate the best response. Graphically displays results and can save results.
What is it?
A significant update to my previous version. It is used to calculate the scores for both alliances and graphically display the results. It is able to save the results to a CSV (Comma Seperated Value) file which can be opened by any spreadsheet application. (It can actually be opened by any text reader, it just won’t be easy to read.)
How do you use it?
Enter the amount of rings for each scoring option, the amount of goals possessed, and if autonomous was won or lost. No alliance may use more than 25 rings total.
Certain underlying assumptions are made: 12 rings can be rung on the paired goals, while 30 rings can be rung on the single goals. As such collectively both alliances cannot exceed those values.
By checking Automatic, the alliance will automatically respond in the best possible way (that is, have the highest score) to the other alliance. Changing values for the manually controlled alliance will automatically change the Automatic alliance’s response. (Note: Both alliances can be set to automatic; however, the second alliance set to automatic will do nothing.)
To change the team names and numbers, click Change Teams. This will pop open a window allowing you to change the team names and numbers; the changes will take effective immediately. This has only an aesthetic effect.
To reset everything (except the team names and numbers), click Reset All.
To save the results, click Save Match Results. The results will be saved to Match Results.csv in the same location as the program file. If you close the program and open it again and save more results, they will simply be added to the end. To read the results open them up in any spreadsheet application. However, I strongly suggest not modifying the results without saving the file under another name or type - it will possibly generate errors in the application when trying to read it upon the next save.
Note:
Attached is a jar file. If you have the Java Virtual Machine then opening the file should automatically launch the program. I wrote and debugged the program on OS X 10.4, and additionally tested it under Windows XP Professional virtualized in VMWare Fusion. Please let me know if you run into any errors.
