Skunkworks, Team 1983,Robotics Business Plan, 2007 - 2008
by: Bob Steele

This document sets forth the business plan for the Aviation High School (AHS) robotics team. This business plan summarizes the purpose of Team 1983; its connection to AHS and the surrounding community, its influence on surrounding teams, schools, and businesses as well as lays down the structure with which the team follows. This document also harbors important information and sub-documents regarding resources, budget, sponsorship details, balance, management and fund raising tactics. Throughout this document it is made clear the importance of Team 1983 within AHS and the community through a common vision and goal to instill within the youth of the United States a new excitement of technology, innovation, and education.

AHS Skunkworks FIRST robotics Team 1983 is only a second year team but our support from our community has been outstanding with 17 mentors, 38 students, parents and faculty committed to the FIRST vision. To fully utilize this level of support and rise to the expectations of our community we have set our goal to be a premier FIRST team, supporting all aspects of the FIRST vision with focus on mentoring and advancing FIRST in the Pacific Northwest region. This lofty goal requires a robust organizational approach that adapts to FIRST goals and team limitations inherent of volunteer organizations.

We are submitting for review and comment our team planning documents as developed by our Systems Integration Team of students and mentors. We see this as the first step in a continuous improvement process that we intend to share with the FIRST community.

Team 1983 has posted our business plan, safety and health plan and management plan for use by any team that may wish to use it. Please feel free to download them and make them your own. We do request that you inform us if you find the information useful, or if you have suggestions on how we can further improve them. We were able to take the Entrepreneurship and Safety awards at the Oregon regional with these materials. We hope that they will prove helpful for you as well.

Wow, really nice job. Thanks for sharing. Maybe this should go in the Rookie Resource section?

We would be happy to post there if you think that would be appropriate.

From the 2008 OR KPC&B Entrepreneurship award winners!

Great job guys, see you… oh! Tomorrow!

great job guys!
We also won the award two weeks ago at VCU. Your plan writeup is very different from ours. We used our CA entry for the Hawaii regional next weekend as our basis for focusing on sustainability and raising 100k this year.
Your writeup is very user friendly for other teams to use.

We are very happy to help other teams.
As we are new, good comments from more mature teams are very important to us. The work is there for others to use… so that we can all improve.

thanks!!!
Good luck at CMP and in Hawaii!! Wish we could go back to the Islands with you!!! maybe another year!!

We will see you in Atlanta!!!

Look for us!!
