I saw on the FRC wikipedia page that it said there had been a regional in Brazil in the past. I don’t remember this. Does anyone know what year it was to confirm it?

2007 and 2008
It seems like there were only 13 teams in 2007, and 15 teams in 2008. I guess lack of teams is why they cancelled it. I hope that the new Mexico City Regional this coming season brings a larger crowd. Also looks like they skipped the Quarter-finals both years, and went straight to the Semis (I guess that is/was allowed?).
EDIT: Another interesting tidbit I found: The event was called Brazil Pilot (2007) the first year, and then the Brazil Regionl (2008) the following year. If the first was a pilot and they only had 13 teams, I’m actually kind of surprised they continued it for a second year.

I know 1772 was instrumental in its existence, and they’re currently working hard to bring a Brazilian Regional back.

In Brazil we have a lot of challenges to turn FIRST in a strong program.
by the same way, we (1772), 383, 1156, 1382 and 1860 still strong in FRC, now we need to use this “know how” for solve this problems and expand for more teams.
We probably will have more 1 to 3 teams with us at orlando regional next year, and 1772 and 383 are working STRONGLY together for have a regional here in 2015
In Mexico this year we have 38 teams, we have an off season event schedule for Oct 26th and with the new regional we expect the creation of more teams at the country, hopefully we can increase the team number and assure the continuity of the Mexico Regional.
Yes, it’s allowed. I recall seeing rules for it somewhere but I can’t find them at this moment.

Based on the Mexican teams I’ve seen at events, this Mexico City regional may be the loudest FRC event ever outside of Championship!
