Thanks for the content and shout outs. 7451 has been working on a high shooter add on for their robot since week 2. Students worked on creating a design that would simply add onto the single feed system and allow us to shoot high. With our single stage lift system located the way it is, the shooter interferes with that, and as a mentor, I was hesitant to sacrifice one of the constant high scoring functions of the robot to add a high shooter. At Dalton we discussed starting a new scoring system design completely including a different style intake and indexer to better handle power cell interaction. One of the major points this year was for our students to discuss a game plan, build the design around it, and then refine it. We are a newer program, and I was concerned from the start that focusing all our efforts to build a high shooter, with the lack of experience, would produce less than desirable results.

I’m happy with the way our team has generally functioned this year, and the way they are approaching making changes and continuing the process for this challenge. The intake on this year’s robot doesn’t actually index the balls like we’d hoped, so there is a major point of improvement, just with what we already have built.

We’ve been bitten by the swerve bug also. Hoping for a summer/ offseason where we can implement and play with new ideas.
