Permitted Ethernet hubs / switches

With the roboRio and the new radio, our team will likely want additional Ethernet ports on the robot.
I’m trying to find the rules that say what may or may not be permitted along the lines of an Ethernet hub / switch.
Can someone please refer me to the rules that guide this, or suggest permitted switches / hubs?

Any 5v or 12v non-broadcasting switch/hub should be fine.

We are also looking at the same thing for multiple cameras and laptops while in pits. Any suggestions on an inexpensive five port switch? Preferably 12v.

The D-Link from last year is free. Make sure you turn off the wifi, and LABEL the power connection (so you don’t mix up the routers and burn up the D-Link).

My go to 5 port switch is the Netgear one. It comes in a metal case and will manage an accidental smack in the pits.

For the robot you could use this 5 port switch that works on 5 volts. It’s in a plastic case and is much lighter than the Netgear one.

Note, both are 10/100 switches, but it’s unlikely you’ll need gigabit speeds on the robot or in the pits. :wink:
