Hi, we’ve tried to download the “photon vision” software, and then we realized that we don’t need this, and just need to open the dashboard from google.
And now we have a question, Is it possible to use the Limelight camera with the “April Tag” in “Photon vision”?
If you’re talking about the “demo” found on PhotonVison’s website, that won’t interface with your hardware Limelight at all.
Yes, PhotonVision is compatible with Limelight hardware. To actually use the software on your Limelight, PhotonVision has a tutorial about how to flash your Limelight with its software for use with April Tags.
It is possible, we did get it working, but we had to build our own image to run it with the beta 6 build of photon, which has support for tag16h5 Fiducial tags which will be on the field. It seems to work okay but we are still testing.
Why did you have to build your own image? Did the offline update not work?
The documentation says for a limelight to use the gloworm image. The latest gloworm image was built off of photonvision-beta-5. We wanted to use beta 6 to use the latest tags…so we built our own. Is there a beta 6 build for limelight? We couldn’t find it, but would love to know for the future.
After flashing the gloworm image, you should just be able to go to the “Settings” tab and do “Offline Update” with the beta-6 pi jar from the photonvision releases page.
Ah. Ok. Sorry, I didn’t know that. Is that somewhere in the documentation? We figured since there were gloworm releases for each specific photon version, we’d have to flash our own if we wanted to use the latest beta, but I guess that wasn’t the case. Thanks for the info!
It’s in the documentation but not obvious. I’ll fix this for 2023.
Running v2023.1.1-beta-6 but can’t seem to select the 16h5 target family, the only option is 36h11. I thought this version supported the lower resolution tags, what am I missing?
On Settings tab, what does it show for version?
Can you do control + R to do a force refresh on the webpage? Haven’t seen this before.
I never would have thought Ctrl+R would have made a difference after powering down the LL and rebooting the laptop at least 3 different times, but it did. Thanks a lot for the help!!
One follow-up question: Is there a 6x6 Calibration target? The download in the interface only has the 8x8 or does it even matter which we use? Thanks again.
You can use whatever calibration target, you don’t need to use a 6x6 for a 6in target if that’s what you’re getting at.
