Photon Vision Client 3D Targets X and Y Meaning

I have PhotonVision installed on a OrangePi 5 using an Arducam OV9281 USB Camera.

After calibration I get target X and Y values that don’t match what I expected. I was assuming this would map to distance from camera to the AprilTag. When target X says 1.0 meter and is center of captured image I am actually only about 0.64 meters away from the camera.

I have tried calibrating the camera using both calibdb and the Photonvision calibrator and get the same results.

When I calibrated with the Photonvision calibrator I am using the 8x8 checkboard and 1" size. I have verified that the checkboard cells are 1" and square.

Is this the result I should expect?

how big is the apriltag target? If you have selected the 36h11 family in the photonvision dashboard, the target should be 6.5 inches in length/width.

Ah, that is my issue. My tag printout is around 4.5 inches, which would map to the scale difference.

Going to file that under; “The more you know!”

Thanks for your help. I was hopeful it was something very easy.

no problem! good luck with your season!
