PhotonVision 2024.1.2A released

PhotonVision LabVIEW version 2024.1.2A has been released. Install file can be located here.

It is compatible with the same release of the co-processor software.

Updated things include:

  • A simpler AprilTag Pose Estimation Execute function and menu macro
  • A menu macro for non April Tag target reading, aiming, and ranging.

If you downloaded 2024.1.2, download this version. It contains an enhancement that makes using Photon Pose Estimation Execute much easier with drive pose estimation.

Happy roboting

Hello there @JSIMPSO! Thank you for all the support you give to LabVIEW every year, we’ve been blessed to have you in the LV community. About the PhotonVision Lib you’ve been developing, We are trying to get it working with the latest LV version, following the installation steps and the documentation, but we couldn’t manage to find out why the PhotonVision VI’s are not appearing in the third library folder. The examples do not show in the fin examples page either. We re-installed everything, but yet, do you have any suggestion about what we could do?

I’ll take a look to see if I can reproduce the issue. A couple of questions:

  1. Are you using LabVIEW 2023 (which is what is provided for FRC use this year)?
  2. Did you download and install the NI package file for LabVIEW 2023? I probably should remove the package for LabVIEW 2020, since it really can’t be used any longer.
  3. Was LabVIEW closed when you did the install? This is important for a number of reasons. When LabVIEW is opened after the install it re-createst the third party menus.

The examples are a different issue. For now there is a separate ZIP file with the example. Download the zip file and unzip the files to any empty directory. You can then find the examples in this directory and use them.

One more thing… I’d strongly recommend upgrading to a RIO2 if you are using the original roboRIO. All the standard libraries and operating system seemed to get bigger and the original roboRIO runs out of memory fairly fast. I’m reviewing my libraries to make them more efficient, but there is only so much that can be done.
