Here is our robot so far, we are almost done just need to add legs to the platform, add the bridge to go over the robot, and wire the arm up to a speed controller. The bumpers are getting the numbers on. So what does everyone think?

looks really nice, good job

looks good Is that the final covering for the ramps? if so what is it? i think we should be able to get up it

see you in st louis

The covering is steel fencing material used for dog kennels. It has holes that are 2" x 4", the 4" sides go the width of the ramp so everyone will need to cross a 2" gaps. But most teams have 6" wheels, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

Did you consider omni wheels? Their rollers might have some trouble with the gaps.

I thought about that, I think it might be an issue but it might actually help because it would give a surface to grab a hold of. Of course it might also get stuck, we might have to add something if we get a omniwheeled bot in our alliance. Usually in St. Louis we have alot of teams with low budgets so Omni wheels are out of the question.

The only thing I would be conserned with, is if a 120lb robot would be supported by the steel fencing. Other than that I see nothing but success for this bot.

We drove our robot on it from last year and it work, it deflects a little bit, but it drove up just fine.

You get to practice in the LIBRARY?

Unfortunately that is where we build our robot. We machine everything on rolling carts in the corridore and we pretty much fan out through out the library doing website stuff, assembling components, learning 3D Max, writing homework letters. It honestly isn’t horrible, the worst part is that we must clean everything up every night spic and span. We used to be in the shop, but we had to move schools due to a lack of a teacher/sponsor.
